Just changed my Cambelt on my T5, not a bad job really and didnt have to remove all of the plastic covers.
Its only done 40000 miles since volvo changed the belt (volvo sticker) but was five years ago so I thought it was about time it was done.

The only thing that was a bit strange when I lined the crank pulley and the cams up , was that the exhaust cam was half a tooth to the left of the notch that it lines up to...I have searched the forums for this and they say thats fine, but seems a bit odd to me.
Is this a common thing with the volvo engine?

cheers.

I wouldn't worry too much. I do cambelts day in day out at work and you often find that once you apply tension to the belt your alighnment marks are slightly out. On petrols it's not much of a problem it's only critical on diesels, which is why they usually have vernier cam sprockets and pin alignment holes for the cam, pump and crank shafts to ensure they are all spot on. As long as you are not a whole tooth out I shouldn't worry.
