hi all.....

just bagged a set of 18'' Nebula rims for my S60 (for £260, good price.?).... i have a few questions though.?

1.... will these directly replace my 17'' Tethy alloys without the need for spacers.

2.... should i go for 235 - 225 - 215 tyre footprints (235 are specified but i dont want arch rubbing)

3.... should i go for 35 - 40 - 45 tyre walls.. i dont want to turn the car into a bone shaker as the T5 suspension is already hard as nails!!

4.... what sort of price should i be looking at for my 17'' Tethy's with 4x good potenza tyres..?? (pointless leaving these sitting about pissing off my wife..lol)

nice one well done, i'd say Nebs are the nicest Volvo wheel available.

1) they'll fit fine, there a P2 wheel

2) i use the same size tyre on my 18's that Volvo fitted with factory 18's (235/40/18). They do rub on full lock, but only the same as the 17's did

3) as 2

4) prices for P2 wheels do seem to vary alot, why not fleabay them so they fetch what someone's prepared to pay

I have 235/35 R 18s on my R and shes lowered 35mm all round. Firstly, the fore mentioned tyre does NOT rub on the liners. If it does, then your 'lock stops' are worn and need replacing. On the P2 V70R/S60R they are black in colour. Volvo do 3 different types depending on make and model and tyre application. The other two are green and blue (i think). You can buy them from PFV too. Cheap!

Secondly, everyone moans like hell about their tyres rubbing on the wheel arch liners! Well i can certainly say that they didn't when the car rolled out of the factory. Volvo also do an arch liner plate the clips and bolts onto the wall of the liner preventing any further damage to the liner. However, since i fitted brand new 'lock stops' the rubbing stopped, even on full lock.

If you fit 40 or 45 profile then you probably will rub as its not the recommended fitment on 18s, hense why Rs are fitted 235/35...Your ride will be less harsh but the trade of is the risk of arch liner damage.

if 40 profile isn't recommended, then why is it listed on the inside of the fuel filler cap? Also standard size on S60R/V70R's is the 235/40/18 LINK (http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/roadtests/s60r_v70r_roadtests.shtml) not 35

As stated the tyre size is 235/40 18 on all P2's including R's.

Tyre brand and model has an affect on rubbage as well, they may all be the same size technically but they aren't!

I got a set a few years back - great looking wheels but tend to corrode and really easy to kerb (my Dear...) but worth fitting.

I went for these wheels too, I stripped mine down and had them re-painted.
Everyone is right about the turning circle though, it is larger than average. It doesn't really matter if your careful though.
There are some pics of them on my S60 in my Garage

OK, i'll refrase what i mean't. I stand corrected on the profile size as i assumed 35 was the standard and anything else was optional. I know the yanks have 17" wheels and higher profile - cos there pussies but in the UK 18" is the norm for an R unless you specify 17". That said, If you have 18" and you opt for a higher profile...ie 40 or 45 :cuckoo: then the tyres are going to rub on the liners. The point i was trying to make is if you have 18" wheels with 35 prog=file and your lock stops are not worn the they will not rub. Fact. Mine don't so why should anyone elses?? Mine is lowered too and it still doesn't rub.
Before i replaced my lock stops they rubbed really badly thou....so it aint rocket science! Check your lock stops then replace or swap sides so the other part of the lock stop wears
...and yes the turning circle is crap but ALL R owners live with it.

Some useless info.
Standard wheel fitment for the Rs were 17" with P Zeros Rosso 235/45Y tyres for the uk etc.
The NCO were 18"235/40 with P Zeros Rosso which dont rub but other tyres might due to there extra wide tread.
