Hi, I own a salvage company, and have just acquired an 850R estate, which I have repaired and am keeping for the time being. Done 191k miles, drives well. Couple of queries. What are the differences in spec between the R and the T5R? Also, I know the front bumpers are different to normal T5, but are the rears also? Or are they the same? Just passed its MOT this morning with flying colours - is it going to be reliable????? Thanks Paul

hi paul you have or use to have a lotus carlton, did you keep it or sell it to be honest i love them, but parts are hard to find, i bought a few parts of you ie discs shocks etc, i have just bought a yellow t5-r estate like you and to be honest i am quite impressed with the car although not as fast as the carlton, the bumpers are slighllty different with a unique body kit, the t5-r has slightly better spec, the t5 has 225 bhp the t5-r has 240bhp they tweaked the air mix and ecu. good luck steve [QUOTE=infinicar]Hi, I own a salvage company, and have just acquired an 850R estate, which I have repaired and am keeping for the time being. welcome to the forum :) The T5R came first then the 850R, quite similar specs on both, the 850R manual is slightly more powerful and has a lsd iirc. Differences with the interior (alcantara and leather parts are vice versa between the 850R and T5R) and were available in different colours :) Should be reliable but will need some tlc I guess. Enjoy!

Hi, Yes I have a Lotus Carlton to the chap who asked....I remember talking to you about the yellow T5R you bought! My company is based in Bracknell Berkshire. The 850R Estate Ive got cost me £765.00 from the insurance co. and virtually nothing to repair! The damage was so trivial, you would be hard pushed to see it when it was damaged. Its in grey with the half leather/alcantara interior - will post a picture of it soon. Took it out last night for a 110 mile round trip - was fine apart from the MPG (not that I care that much, but the price of petrol does eat at me!) 24 mpg in total - 90 miles of m'way....... Did we determine that the rear bumpers are the same as a normal T5? Or are they T5R/R specific. This one Ive got is an Auto so I assume no LSD :-( Paul

HI there , i too get stuff from you but it is of the BMW variety ( i am an e34 fanatic and seem to collect M5 bits!!! ) The body kit is the same as the run of the mill Volvo . only the front bumper is different and should have a tailgate spolier ....£795 ....jeez oh ....paid more for my wheels and i bet you have Volans on it too ( grey 7 spoke s!) some guys have all the luck ...tell you what ... i'll give you a round grand for it ...that is free motoring with a bit extra!!!!LOLOLOL

Interesting number of car cross overs here! Say one thing cant beat these Volvos for value - if it blows up throw it and buy another.....the T5s are so cheap now. Great workhorses, massive inside and tow well too (my favourite pastime!) My R has the boot spoiler yes. And yes it has the 7 spoke Volans wheels, funnily enough with brand new tyres fitted - must have been literally a few miles before the accident - still had the labels showing. Theyre not in great condition tho (some kerbing) - any decent known refurbers that get the colour right? Paul

Where abouts in Brakkers are you. I have recently moved up here from Priestwood. The only breakers I can think of is/was behind the skislope (or the John Nike Leisure centre for those that remember Ali G)
