Hi Mark! Welcome aboard! Glad you could make it! :partysmil What was your username on VT5? x

Post 13335 by Wobbly Dave on 2005-04-07 14:34:55

:welcome: Mark. This site in the space of a month has outstripped VT5 by some distance. I had enough of the poor performance (of the site). Most if not all the regulars have transferred over now. I hope you enjoy the site and find time to get some shots into your vBGarage etc. Had you any particular T5 in mind? There are a few.

A BSR boost valve and some hose can be got from lots of different parts. They are fairly easy to fit and Dave850R has recently wrote some instructions. I should be updating that with some pictures shortly. Andrew.

I think you mean boost Gauge ;) but I will let you off - LOL :shhh:

Post 13358 by markt4 on 2005-04-07 15:42:46

lol to be honest i have no idea , but the t4 seems really underpowerd been told to fit a boost valve and a gauge (which means nothing to me) but ill have a bash at fitting it if i can get them

Post 13359 by Mrsmopp on 2005-04-07 15:48:47

Who said to fit a boost valve and gauge? x

Post 13361 by Wobbly Dave on 2005-04-07 15:50:09

Have you considered remapping the T4. Have a word with Madness (aka Jamie). His T4 is a bit mental now. I still think however you get a better result starting with its bigger sister.

Post 13362 by markt4 on 2005-04-07 15:58:46

a lad across the road with a rs turbo he has one fitted and turned up the boost???if i was keeping it for me i would get it remapped ,but as u say im after its big sister with it allready done hopefully!!! also i cant hear my turbo whistle , should it?? my t4 is fitted with a sports pack??? which means what??? it has a very big exhaust on the rear so its hard to hear anything, it also has a dump valve fitted which i dont think is working to well , ill have to come 2 some meet and let u guys n gals take a look at it

Post 13365 by Mrsmopp on 2005-04-07 16:04:22

Your mates RS turbo is nothing like a T4 so I would try and steer away from going down the same route tbh! You could fit a manual boost crontroller, as v6en has I believe, or got the remapping route as Madness has - either way you'll get a big difference Turbo's dont always whistle - some do some dont, no one knows why LOL! Are you manual or auto byw? x

Always a pleasure mate ;) Glad you found your way here :welcome: Sounds like your T4 is running a little off song TBH cos even as stock it should still have a great  factor to it. Jot down a spec for me and I'll be able to get a better picture of where your at tunning wise as it has already been played with.

dont think it has any mods , well i bought a replecment filter off ebay yesterday jemex, it has a dump valve , and i think the exhaust is standard its oval 6" x 4.5" and thats it i think
dont think it has any mods , well i bought a replecment filter off ebay yesterday jemex, it has a dump valve , and i think the exhaust is standard its oval 6" x 4.5" and thats it i think
Well the DV isan't stock and nore is the 6x4 zorst. One thing you need to have a look for is a blanking plate which will have replaced the stock CBV, which is the stock recirculating valve which is mounted on the side of the turbo. When fitting a DV you really need to do this other wise neither valves will work properly and might explain things if its very quiet. If you can get any pics that would be a great help too. Steve

ill get pics tomorrow for ya , dump valve makes a loud "wooosh"when u give it plenty of throttle but in normal driving it makes more of a rattle , which i dont know if thats right? as for the zorst the rear bumper doesnt look like its been cut for it to fit , if u know what i mean?? ill send photos

hello, It might be something simple that's wrong with the car like a leaky hose somewhere stopping you getting the full benefit from the turbo. as standard the T4 has a lot of power and torque (200bhp and 221lb.ft) so i'm sure with a few tweaks it will put a smile back on your face. they're faster than standard T5's from 0-100mph as well, so with a bit of extra tampering they can be extremely quick. don't do any mods till you've learned a bit more about it though or you might just make problems for yourself. There aren't many of them for sale at the moment either so it's nice to have something a bit rarer. i love mine, can you tell? :lovestory jacq. ps i have the oval tailpipe as well. Your dump valve shouldn't rattle at all, it may be either loose or just fitted in a bad place. oh and try some shell optimax in your petrol tank, the T4 runs alot better on that fuel.

well thanks everyone , nice to come to a site where people answer your questions ,and every 1's very helpful, top site. i shall put some optimax in it(god knows where the nearest shell garage is though) the highest ive found is 97 ron and its a 14 mile round trip to that garage.as for leaky hoses thats me knackerd then  theres hoses all over that engine . just take it as im brain dead when it comes to engines
