Post 156789 by Wobbly Dave on 2006-10-29 19:13:14

Very nice mate, I was only 15 miles from you guys but had more important things to do, family v car only one winner,
1.4 SEC is a long time on the quater mile Wayne :)

Nice weather in the end then!
Sorry I couldn't make it. Who's was the other red R?
Post 156795 by T5ER on 2006-10-29 19:18:51
i only did 2 runs as they pulled me of the track as they said i was leaking antifreeze (LOL had the air con on in the line up lane) and it was condensation not antifreeze but they would not have it even ask them to taste it LOL.
Any way my times
1st run
Reaction 0.84024
60 ft 2.698
terminal speed 86.89
time 16.43
2nd run
Reaction 0.50403
60 ft 2.801
terminal speed 86.67
time 16.58
This is my proper first time and in a car i have only had a week, still was trying to learn how far to take the revs whilst holding the brake without killing my box

14.2
AND THEN..
60FT : 2.335
14.03452 @ 103.11
Close but no cigar :(
New tyres will sort it tho :)

I was disappointed with the result. As some might know I recently had to replace my engine - as the original one died @ 70K (long story).
So I am now running with the engine from my black one. I did a 15.0 on the original engine that came with the current ride - which did 242bhp @ the wheels in April. Anyhoose - feel a little disappointed I couldnt put do a similar time - Am I being a bit hard on the ole gal?
Neither engine have been mapped yet.
however I am v pleased with the battery cover

I too strugled with traction, I managed 2 x15.2s @ 95 mph and 2x 17s at 94 mph!
Next time I will clean the car and remove pram, sunblind, oil drums, maps cds , tools etc, spare wheel etc etc.
I tried 2 methods to get 15.2s one with tracs on an changing to 4th @ 90 mph, The other tracs off and just leaving it in 3rd to cross the line, with the same result, intrestingly even when I had bob all traction on the two 17s @ 94 by the time I hit 3rd on one run speed had dropped from 60 to 40 mph and I still did 94.7 mph!

Yes a truly excellent day out big thanks to mrs t5er and i think waynes mum for the bbq food was top notch
Didn`t run the strip myself as i was in the wifes S70 and if i`d have blown that up i`d be in seriuos trouble so next time i`ll hopefully be in my own car and i`ll deffo be up the strip
Very spirited drive home trying to keep up with lance the best bit being the A46 bypass between JNC 21 of the M1 and the A46 itself i was about 500 yards behind lance and we were both travelling some lance came up behind a car in outside lane which moved over for him but then as i came hammering up it decided to return to the outside lane nothing on the inside lane but still moves into my path i was doing about ***mph and it must have been doing about 65mph i came sailing up counted to 10 and strobed the **** it soon moved out of the way and as i accelerated past i was shaking my fist poor muppet probably shat themselves
Well cheers for a good turnout nice to meet a few other members that i had not seen before and nice to catch up with V8 guitar in his skyline (very nice)
Thanks to fatspice and good lady and also pedro fandango who i`d not met before for coming
Looking forward to the next one sometime next year

I nearly had as much fun going there and back as running!! Played with a Supra on the way down and a morgan on the way back ( it moved!).
Queues were a bit mad, but the weather was great. It was a real pleasure seeing all the T5's....the red R's were definately in force!!
Turns out the guy I bought my Skyline from knows one of you guys as well, although not sure who - Pedro I think!! Small world.
Nice to see Stu, Lance ( when he finally got up ) and Hamish.
Dave - Your battery box is beautiful...but I reackon your times would be better with fewer cleaning products in your boot!!!
Made it on one of the piccy's as well ( in the queue with the bonnet up)!
Great day....

Hamish got 12.0? But I guess that doesnt count even if they gave him "T5" as a car number
Pretty sure Shaun's 850 with 14.0 dead was the quickest

Yeah, just not on the forum that much because:
1) VERY busy at work - its a little mad
2) Now a non Volvo owner or ex-Volvo owner!
Was in Leamington last weekend and wll bethere on Sunday to drop my kids off....the band is still around although not that many gigs in Leam these days...

Sounds like you lot had a good time!
Bummer I was there on the Saturday not the Sunday!
14.0 - damn... that is FAST in a T5! Shaun - what mods are you running?
I ran a 14.45 at 95.74mph but not in my Volvo ;) Still have some other mods to introduce next season and I'm confident of breaking into the 13's.
Hope y'all ok and speak soon.

14.0 is fast...I'm running 400 BHP in a 4wd car ( so I can dump the clutch at 5000 RPM and no wheel spin ) I only got a 13.2.....I've got no where to put the kids or dog ( if I had one...) so I think 14.0 is a testiment to how good volvo's are...
