Hello everyone. Been about on here a while now reading threads etc, But since I pick up a S Reg S80 T6 at the weekend thought I'd best say hi properly. Myself and the Mrs are members on the 480 club Europe site and a few of you will already know us. Still have the 480's but wanted a bit more comfort. I have heard a lot of horror stories about the T6 but the deal was too good to turn down, and it will be on LPG asap. :Handshake Wayne & Nikki

The T6 is a 7 series better , the main downside being the geartronic box, later models are meant to be better, 98 being quite troublesum. I owned a 1998 T6 for 2 months in that time it speant about 2 weeks on the road the rest in several gargages including volvo main, independent specialist, fuel Injection specialist, the supplying dealer and a auto transmission specialist! The result being no mechanical faults found whatsoever but conflicted computers. The T6 has 18 computers 3 of which control the geartronic system! Good luck with yours I hope you have less heart ache and frustration than I had! On the positive side 105 mph@3000 rpm - 25 mpg, comfy interior and you can press a button and hit your rear passangers with the head rest , folding mirrors , pop up sat nav, wicked sound system and loads of other toys. Plus 50 -100 in kick down or 2nd is blistering. When my old one was new it cost 6k more than I paid for my house! Now you can pick em up for 6k or less! Unfortunatly mine was the nicest crap car Ive ever owned,and I returned it to the dealer for a full refund and bought another T5.

Hello Mr & Mrs Laserowl!! Welcome to the club. Not all S80 T6 owners have had heaps of trouble - a colleague at work has had one from new, same year as the one you are getting and has had no complaints. Hopefully your's will be a good one too!! Cheers, John.

Thanks for the great welcome guys. Yes I know Uncle Gaz.....very good friend, & yeap the Name Chris Kay brings memories of some happy meets. Thanks for the advice on the T6, time will tell, its got full History and the previous owner has always had the slightest thing done at Volvo main dealers. Plan to have it converted to LPG soon, so if anyone has any news about S80's on gas please let us know. Cheers Wayne
