Just had a phonecall from Virgin Media (as my mobile is on Virgin network) about their broadband deals. Now this is not unusual as I get calls all the time from Orange (my ISP) trying to push me into getting a phone package with them and they just never give up (as I don't deal with the phone line, my mum does, and thats how its gonna stay). But this call was different, more relaxed, more of a 'I don't really want to bother you' feel to it. I was quite surprised! And TBH, the package offered is better than Orange's so I might just go with it. And she gave me a direct contact!

My bill is between £55 and £65 a month for L size broadband (£25 on its own) and the unlimited phone package (you pay extra for caller ID and cheaper calls to mobiles). They have now thrown in free TV which has gone into one of the kids rooms as I already have Sky. So I don't think its much good especially as I only get 4meg and not the claimed 10 to 12! It all depends on what deal they are offering you I suppose. Friend has gone for o2 broadband and phone for stupid cheap money. I would move but as my job pays for the phone & net I'm not so inclined to have the hastle! lol

I think I read on the VM website that 10meg is not fully rolled out yet (somewhere in the fineprint) but will be by september 2008

Well... let us not forget that Virgin Media is technically NTL... and we all know what that means... I'm personally with BT broadband and phone (both max packages), BT might be sh!te... but they shine like bright-beacons compared to NTL! :)

If you want speed then there's no comparison to cable. I've been with multiple ISP's but my phone line could never support more than 2mb, for whatever rubbish reason, but now i'm with Virgin and getting about 9.7mb, and yes, they're gradually upgrading everyone from the 4mb package... The thing about Virgin/NTL etc, as long it's just the broadband you go for, you'll be fine, as that usually always works without any hassle... I used to have NTL ages ago, and the TV was absolutely crap! I remember those days of spending more than 60mins on the phone to their support guys, but never had a problem with the broadband.
