:welcome: The club that has members in some very interesting places. We are from all over the place, there are members in Australia, France, Germany and Weston-super-Mare, sorry about the last one but someone had to say it. We do have a lot of members in Yorkshire, but don't hold that against them they're a really nice bunch of peeps. Then there's Scotland where there seem to be a few and well as Ireland both north and south. I think there are a few in Wales as well, and then there's the Isle of Wight or is that just the home of the old joke "What's brown and comes steaming out of Cowes? The Isle of Wight Ferry". Which was funny when they were steam driven. I have an enduring memory of Malvern, many years ago I drove the Wrestler/Actor Pat Roach in his Bentley to an match there. As we had set off early and Pat didn't like hanging around in the dressing room, I suggested that we stop at a pick your own farm to get some Strawberries. There were quite a few people there and it was really funny watching their reactions as we walked up and down the rows picking strawberries. They knew who he was, but unlike today, no one said anything, they just stood and stared. The funny thing was Pat had never been to a pick your own before and he really enjoyed himself.

I was only down there a fortnight ago, via Bishops Frome. Beautiful corner of this land. I'm from Middlesbrough/Boro which, despite much negative critique, isn't such a bad place. Our claims to fame I would have to include: Birthplace of Captain James Cook, Brian Clough, Chubby Brown, Bob Mortimer, gravelly crooner Chris Rea, Paul Rodgers (Free) and rather dubious conjurer Paul Daniels. We also have the famous Transporter bridge which has made appearences in Billy Elliot, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, The Fast Show. For sport we have the mighty (ahem, Championship side :( ) Middlesbrough AFC, and our culinary coup has to be our very own Parmo. There. That's my reply and application for the Middlesbrough Tourist Board all sewn up. Any questions?!

A wee village called Lochwinnoch,20 miles west of Glasgow,Scotland. No crime,no baseball hats,no litter........idyllic. No rozzers either due to the aforementioned. It's a beautiful place surrounded by loch, rivers and forrests. As close to paradise as you will ever see in this sh*thole that's called the UK..

There are very, very few parts (and I'm talking about the bits outside of town/city centres) that aren't Sh*tholes, this place is looking more and more like a communist state with each passing day. As I've said before, if I could find the work I'd emegrate tomorrow. I live in a small part of Wigan that only slightly resembles the Westbank during yet another bombing sortie by the yanks,,

Here's a thought, when I lived in Northern Ireland at the time when bombs were going off and people were being shot on a regular basis, I felt safer there than in Weston on the Mud. There are people in the UK who are ruining it for us all, and the people in power are the ones who are letting it happen.

Crap eyesight, meant only "trash haulers" for me at best. Dad was in for 22 year stint. Saw sense at the end and said no when they tried to sign him for another session - "Honest, you'll be staying in the UK in one place". Yup that's what they said just after posting him out to the Maldives for several months (unaccompanied) when they shut down RAF Gan and moved us around from Waddington to Newton just afterwards when we'd bought the first house. Enough was enough. Time to settle and put roots down somewhere.
was your dad in the marine craft branch?
Nope. Ground radar and radios. Also well known at the time as "the guy with the camera". Photography was his hobby at the time and he took loads of pictures during his time there (1975-6). Unofficially he was the last man off the base and island (RAF Gan, Addu Attol) when they shut down. Photographed the official leaving and then had a chopper come back and pick him up. Came home on RFA Sir Percival iirc.

Afterall, BSR developed the remap for your car with standard everything in mind, therefore having a mbc would surely interfere with the running and mapping of the setup (if you get my meaning).

I'm from a tiny little village just north of Dundee called Kirkton of Tealing (consisting of about 10 houses, a church and a farm......thats it!). This is what it is most famous for: During the Second World War, the Ministry of Defence built an aerodrome at Tealing (just down the lane from me, it is now a chicken farm) and No.56 Officer Training Unit opened in March 1942, equipped with Hurricane, Master and Lysander aircraft. The number of pilots training at the unit varied from about 35 to 40 in 1942, reaching a peak of 150 on 1943. It was at the aerodrome that Tealing's most famous visitor arrived. On 20 May 1942, a strange four-engined aircraft appeared in the circuit at Tealing, piloted by Endel Puusepp. It was one of the first Russian TB7s to visit Britain and it brought Vyacheslav Molotov, Russian Foreign Minister and Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Defence, on a military mission to meet with Sir Winston Churchill at Chequers. Tealing airfield was probably chosen to attract as little attention as possible and, for security reasons, there was a local news blackout at the time.
