I got a value on my 530d via webuyanycar.com a few weeks ago, and was quoted £2700 (about the same as Glass' etc so no great surprise).
Did another one this AM with the same details - £3515! Thats only £200 less than what I bought the car for 6 months ago!

I used them to dspose of my fathers car when he passed away, a BMW 318ti compact. They gave me £200 under the Glass's guide price for a car of its age and condition to take into account the fact it needed 2 new tyres and a service. It was a simple transaction (car was gone 2 days later, full amount deposited into bank account before the car left my driveway) and they gave me more than I would of achieved selling it myself and also avoided all the hassle of tyrekickers etc.
IMO, they are not crooks, they are simply realists. They are only interested in placing a realistic price on a vehicle they consider saleable (and profitable). I would lay money on there being a much bigger potential number of clients for a lot of other cars than a 10 year old Volvo, hence there ability to offer a better price as they know they will be able to dispose of some marques/models much quicker than others. Unfortunately, we are all blinded by our own opinions because we know these cars and know what they mean to US, however, they don't have the same value to many other people.

Must admit, i'm a little tempted to do the deal, although I suspect they'd probably hammer the price down face-to-face then they inspect the car visually, so i'm taking the quote with a pinch of salt.
So then, you bunch of Volvo-addicted wotsits, what would you recommend as a replacement to the Beemer? (Like I can't guess...!)

Depends what you want out of a car, is it good fuel consumption, performance, flexibility, or even all 3

I think I might go for something a bit smaller this time, probably back to petrol. I'm in no rush tho, I'm off on hols next week and will contemplate it then.
I'm getting married in 6 weeks so suspect my days of buying whatever car I like are going to disappear when sprogs arrive, so I need to strike off a few of my remaining dream cars. Quite fancy an Integra Type R in black for some reason...
