bring back the big old square box i say!
I agree, bug eyes, wide mouth frog looks.......were as all the style gone.
not bias at all,but ford thankfully haven't jumped on the band wagon...
i beg to differ! have you seen the new ford ka-k??
fiat 500 rep, lol, they are a bit but not to the degree of above lol
I think the trouble is these days is that cars are designed by computer for maximum aerodynamics and the same shape gets spat out every time. The only way manufacturers can make theirs look different is to play around wit the bits that don't matter. Doesn't help as well that all cars are based on something else that's based on something else etc etc.
That Kia is fugly, man! J
i beg to differ! have you seen the new ford ka-k??
The rear looks like a cheapo Hyundai! To tall not wide enough as well!
Not only are they getting uglier but they are also getting similar. Oddly I find the top end cars seem most alike than others. The top of the range Peugeot is hard to tell from the 7 series BMW and Merc saloons on the motorway. Oh and I'm not being off-topic as I think they all look a PoS. I like the XJ jags, the E-type (now that is hard to beat in looks), the AC Cobra and it's copiers. Heck, I even like the old Bond Bug!
Some people manage decent looking cars still. Audi are still making them, but that's only my opinion. Have to agree though, seems the uglier the better and it really pis5es me off to hear these idiots on programs like 5th Gear praising the look of,say the Corsa..........IT'S FOOKIN' HIDEOUS!! Don't like the way they drive either. Give me a Nova GTE every time, they were a hoot and smart looking too. Maybe I'm just gettin' old but to me the heyday was the late 80's..early 90's. What a choice we had then.....well compared to today anyway...Then there's the fact that everything is powered by a canal boat engine. Sittin' at the lights and a gleaming Audi TT pulls up beside you.......and it's got a sump full of nuts and bolts... It's all gone Pete Tong!!

No it's not just you,i'm thinking the same:bullwhip:
Oh and btw it seems like the 5 cyl.is not coming back in the new S60.
So keep yours,it will be unique in a while.
it seems people now buy cars for the economy and money saving, rather then how they look! 80s and 90s were the best looking cars by far
oh its better, the posh fiats are at it now
tht is minging

Hotpoint?...Indesit?.....LG?........
Hotpoint?...Indesit?.....LG?........
It's obvious. It's the Suzi Palette, probably thus named cos it's as pretty as a picture (in a darkened coal cellar)

have to disagree with you on the Audi bit, the TT is a defo girly car & the R8 is just a TT put thru photoshop. The Q7 looks like the run of the mill SUV's that seem to be going about. My old mans got an Audi A4 at the minute, which altho does look nice on the outside certainly wouldn't want to keep. Theirs no thought been put into the interior at all, the bright red lighting makes the buttons unreadable & the AC display is straight from Tandy's, plastic everywhere & no room in the back (roll on tuesday when the cramped Saab 9-3 comes back lol)
seen this driving round Cov, & the stretch makes it even uglier
this is a new car, and I dont think its ugly!
I agree there are some ugly mofo cars coming out, but will also admit that, to me, the S60/V70 looked ugly when they first came out in 2000. A colleague of mine was going to get one in 2001 and I distinctly remember scoffing and raising my eyebrowse at the prospect. Now I think the phase 2's are starting to look a little bit dated. I still like them though, so will be keeping mine for some time yet. However (no offence chaps, just my opinion...) the phase 1's are looking very dated on today's roads, but will one day become a classic that will he sought after big time, so hold onto yours alan until you're in the sanitorium.. ! Basically all I'm saying is that tastes change and times change, and everyone to a lesser or greater degree is driven by the designers and marketeers (and the marketeers give the designers their brief in the first place). TTFN
I say they all look the same nowadays, I can't tell the diff between any of the marks these days they are all just so dull. Now I know my v40 looks pretty similar to most of the estates of the period but I bought on family grounds, before that I had a Mazda 323f the one with the pop up headlights, now that was pretty individual but cars these days, well wind tunnels and pc's don't make nice cars! IMO.
The womannext door has just bought a new Megane! Now THAT is ugly as fook :D
Now THAT is ugly as fook :D
The woman ? :smileypul
I wouldn't say these cars are 'dated'...more, different! Modern cars today are all starting to take on the same sort of shape. Doesn't matter where i go, my car always turns heads. You wouldn't look over your shoulder at a new 207 or fiesta, would you? Well, i wouldn't anyway. I agree that Audi have clinched it with the front end 'angry look'. Alot of other manufacturers have tried to follow suit and failed miserably!
How can she be ugly/dated with such a beautiful shaped nose?
...and just look at those eyes...Stunning!! (IMO)
As for the arse, well this is the only thing those Saxo boy's get to look at...
(pre rear bumper trims)
Dated...maybe. Different...definately. Ugly...Never!
I was reading this thread last night while watching Ronin for the umpteenth time! Interesting to mention Audi, the S8 in that film still looks good, but the Peugeot 406 and 605 both look dated. I don't think cars are always improved upon - the Mk6 Golf has sprouted the now mandatory ugly door handles (a la 911) and looks dumpier than the Mk5. Ditto the new Audi A4 - weird side treatment I think. Two small 'uns that look like they have been squeezed hard are the Alfa Mito and Ford Ka. Peugeot needs a big rethink. Hideous. As usual, Italian cars seem to carry off proportions and style better than most - the Alfa 159 in new ti trim looks as good as any mid sized saloon. Anyway - it's all opinion - bit like one man's wife is another man's fixation!
...Ah Ronin! Classic car chase film. Did you spot the V70R in silver at the beginning of the film? Just before the first shoot out! Nice!
I have to get my oar in hen it comes to Audi. I have to agree with Al. The A4,5 and 6 all look amazing and the R8 is just simply amazing. However also agree about the Q7, theres just something that ain't right. The Q5 looks better size fights the design better. The TT is girly but looks amazing and the A8 is a spendid piece of machinery.
The womannext door has just bought a new Megane! Now THAT is ugly as fook :D
I have to disagree the new Megane is very good looking car as is the new scirocco :)
Like I said - it's all subjective!
Like I said - it's all subjective!
Very true. But the Megane IS really ugly :haha:
The new scirocco is a cross between a golf and an astra, but squashed. Bloody awful.
The new scirocco is a cross between a golf and an astra, but squashed. Bloody awful.
Yes,but when you shut the door,it sounds just like......a Golf :wave23d:
The new scirocco is a cross between a golf and an astra, but squashed. Bloody awful.
I actually like it! Struggle to get the kids in one, though, so I'd opt for a five door Golf GTi!
I think they look quite nice in the brochures and magazines, but when I've seen a few in the flesh, with their arse dragging on the floor, it's a big no no from me.
The Scirroco is well nice! The Megane is just bloody awful, I was one of the very few who liked the previous "shaking that ass" Megane. However at the end of the day, its a Renault which means its rubbish and it will break so who really cares what it looks like lol.

Well I only state fact mate lol!!!
The Scirroco is well nice!
it's not! It's 'orrible! :Handshake
it's not! It's 'orrible! :Handshake
orrible or not, its a VW so no-one will buy it because its overpriced anyway lol
The Ford Sierra when it first came out was slated for being too ahead of it's time design wise and took a long time to pick up in the sales department, Ford lost it's best seller position with the Cortina that they had dominated for years while the Cavalier played it safe and took top selller! then along came the Cosworth and gave it credability and as they say, the rest is history. I still prefered the Cortina though! Mk111 but Mk4 was nice too...... Ahh the good Ol days. lol
