Hi all
I was so pleased to see a T5 site, im impressed! I have had my 1996 T5 now for a year and so far all has been well. Then a few weeks ago my washer light came on and i ignored it for about a week. I filled it and the lamp has not gone out since. I have just had a service by a non volvo garage as i could not afford the small mortgage costs that Volvo wanted and the garage said that maybe the arm in side the bottle is stuck? Is it a sensor that may have gone? lastly, my air con is running cold air for about 10 mins and then stops and blows only normal air. If i rev the engine or speed up, then the air goes real cold again?
Lastly, am i right in thinking that for a 1996 850 T5, i need Volvo to turn off the service light? I presume they would even though they did not service the car?
Sorry for all the questions!!!
thanks

Welcome to the site...

Obviously check for leaks under the car - also to fill it up will take upto 4.5litres of fluid. This could just be a dodgy sensor and is most likely also check the fuse.

This could be a compressor problem. Getting the codes read will probably help narrow it down.

MikeMitch put this together - it should explain how to do it. Click on the document to access it.

I'm sure others much more knowledgeable will put me right if they think I'm on the wrong path.

Many thanks andrew , i appreciate the reply. I have read around the web that 850 1996 onwards will need Volvo to turn off Service light. I read your link and it says about up to 1996 and under that says another choice. Is that choice for 850 after 1996, cos it does not say?
In your experience and knowledge, are compressors expensive?
thanks again

Service light can be reset with a tool that plugs into the OBDII port below the coin tray. Any garage with the right tool should be able to do this.
