Hi
New to the group, but not Volvo's - just bought my fourth, another phase 1 S40 T4....! Yellow. Most recently had a V40 T4 and prior to that, a couple of S40 2.0T's, in between such beasts as an Impreza STI RA, and a type UK. Oh, and a Porsche 928 S2 (manual!)
Anyhow, back into the "prancing moose" fold, and looking for help with my latest purchase. Got it cheap cos high miles, but engine and box replaced 60,000 miles ago. 2000 "W" plate, sport version. Few odds and sods needed which I am getting this week, which leads me to the stereo.... I don't touch wiring if I can avoid it, and this looks a nightmare.
Appreciate that this will be best posted elsewhere which I will, but as a "heads up", matter is below.
Car has an HU605 unit in situ. Fits fine and locks in place. It does not however, match up to the wiring (connectors in dash are smaller than rear of unit). Don't know what was in before and either want to marry up 605 to suit or, replace with what would have been "original" in car - anyone know what that would be?
Cheers for now
Grant

:welcome:
Is it another S/V40 you have ?
IIRC they have the SC805 head unit, its a bloody good system as well. I upgraded my 855 stereo to the V70 head unit which is also an SC805.
Theres a couple on ebay.

If your connectors aren't the right ones, try nipping into Halfrauds, they sell adaptors that will allow you to just plug it in.

Thanks folks
Tried Halfrauds - all they can do is marry to an ISO connector which would allow fitment of an aftermarket unit. My problem is that I don't know;
a) what was originally fitted and,
b) whether the wiring has been played around with.
I have followed the wiring into the dash and there is another connector in line, but this won't mate up to the rear of the HU605, again it's too small. Confused? You bet I am.
I've checked ebay and seen the 805's for sale, my concern is I've no guarantee that my wiring will mate to these either, and it's a gamble getting one. Think a visit to my local auto electricians is coming on.....!
Cheers
