When I picked my T5 up 2-2-10 it had a set of Duron Sport One tyres on the front. I had a puncture the other day and had to replace the rear the only ones in stock were Nexan. So I now have 2 Duran Sport One 225-45 ZR17 front and Nexan 225-45 ZR17 to the rear. Has anybody heard of these tyres before. I hav'nt but assured they are OK They run OK normal road noise. What tyres would have been supplied with V70 T5 in 2005. I know there has been loads of chat what are the best, I know its a vast subject but if you average the comments I think you could say any top of the range will do. All replies fully appreciated. I may end up getting a new set and starting again from scratch. Just need a bit of assurance.

I'm running 4 Nexen (not Nexan) 1000 tyres at the mo. Good enough for the winter & wet driving. I'm intent on getting somthing a bit more premium for the comets & summer usage. I paid £300 for a set of four with balance & Ng fill.

I think original fitments would have been Pirelli P6000 - not much rated by many on here. I've used Vredestein tyres on mine which offer a good blend of grip, wear and economy but I'm actaully running the Goodyear budget Fulda Carat tyres on my fronts at the moment which seem to be lasting very well. Not sure about the Nexens but a full set for £300 is very very good!

Lots of shopping around & cross quoting to get that price. Best advice is to shop around & always note the tyres, the price & any extras included in the quote. You can then lever the next price using this as a reference (and obviously the name of the competitor) to then improve the quote they will give you. Get five tyre shops & the work should be swift & the price (if you stick to one brand of tyre) will fall to the most resonable (that includes fitting) for four tyres. Buy in bulk, shop around, get quotes & improve the deals!

Falken ZE912 here. Had 8 so far. I may go for FK452 next but I don't really like directional tyres. For me what's most important is the load rating, with 91 index tyres the sidewalls are shot inside 10k. Reinforced 94 XL rated hang together a while longer.

Oh, and my £300 included a laser wheel alignment too! As I said, quote the extras too!

Vredstein Ultrac Sessanta 2's are good - I'm going for Falken FK-452's when I get my new alloys delivered - hope they are as good. Gonna put a pair of winter fronts on the old rims in case we have another bad winter.

I was torn between the two for the rear of my 530d but plumbed for the latter. No complaints at all. This site is useful too although you have to take some reviews with a pinch of salt. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/
