my dads v70 phase 1 is having a problem with the abs and before we start replacing things i woundered if any one on here has had this problem or know a fix for it.
It only happens at low speeds and when hes braking slightly and hits a bump nothing major just like speed bumps etc the abs kicks in and is getting the grinding affect and the only way to stop this is to release the brake pedal, could this be the sensor playing up weve read the codes and it not showing anything

Not the best of help im sure but I have had a similar problem in my p1 V70 when going down hill or after hitting a small bump, mine too also showed no error codes but solved itself in a month or so. Perhaps just some dirt on the sensors?

A common sympton when going over bumps is the ABS light coming on indicating a faulty module, usually bad solder joints. That's how my problems started. At the begining the light will go out when switching the igition switch off and then restarting but as things get worse it then just stays on. Sorting the problem is not that difficult but there is a member that re-flows the solder joints if you don't feel confident doing it yourself.

Forgot to say the abs light doesnt come on when the car is having these problems but have made sure it works when turning the ignition on

Yes exactly as mine was just unexpected ABS kicking in until you release the brakes and re-apply them.

In that case have you checked the sensor steel rings and removed any rust build up on them?

I'd vote reluctor rings too, generally ABS fault is just lights on the dash.

Went to school at the chace, visit my brother in law now off Willow Rd, not too often as it's 150 miles from where I now live and fuel being the price it is. Let you know when I'm going down next, best for now Sam.
