Hi all, I have recently purchased a white, 98 T4 for track days. It is partially stripped (no carpet or rear door panels) It has: 17" with Bridgestones Upgraded brakes - no idea what, but there is an invoice from, I think RT for £250 BSR optiflow kit lowered - once again not sure what or when - think the shocks are Gabriel? Steam train sounding blow off valve Jetex exhaust - not had it on ramp yet I have two rolling road printouts, one showing 225 and another a month later showing around 240. Ill post some photos soon, its really clean on the outside. Now for a couple of quick questions: 1. The engine is a bit tappety - common fault or big issue? 2. I am based around Essex/East London - any decent independant garages around? PLANS: sort interior with further weight reduction where possible. Early ideas include remove excess metal from interior and door shells and remove rear seats. sort brakes - it stops well enough but I am sure they need at least new fluid and brake hoses (where best to buy braided hoses from?) Thanks all

East London - try Braydon Motor Company in Hackney... they know their Volvos. Welcome, btw :)

Hello :welcome: If you are using it on a track i'd suggest checking that they are bigger discs and calipers and not just performance discs/pads as the early phase 1 t4's had tiny brakes on the front (256mm, i think). As a fairly cheap upgrade you can use the brakes from an early mitsi evo (the evo 3 i think) which are a bit bigger (278mm) but have twin pot calipers. Those combined with braided brake hoses, new fluid and good discs and pads should be fine for the track. Being able to stop well (and with little fade) and corner fast are more important than straight line speed when you are on a track, IMO. Does the tapping noise get quieter or stay the same as the car warms up?
