[quote=santa20;333636]And I'll be in a Flash Green S60R :-)[/quote] Get them to race you in a straight line in the new T6, then you can show them that their new cars aren't fast enough!

[quote=LiamT4;333639]Get them to race you in a straight line in the new T6, then you can show them that their new cars aren't fast enough![/quote] Had a similar conversaton with the person thats coming with me....see if they will allow a T6 vs the previous gen R.

[quote=thebadger;333839]Should be allowed a guest as I was at one today, courtesy of t5_monkey today! Cheers again Ben![/quote] NP thanks for coming - and enduring my driving!! Just a shame you couldn't join in as no one cancelled. Could hear your T5 pull away all up the road by the way when you left :) sounded awesome.

Well I'm back.....firstly some crap videos. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypp3pGSvEsA"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypp3pGSvEsA[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn7sOL6A10U"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn7sOL6A10U[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgMgcz2VG1E"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgMgcz2VG1E[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8B8Xcaj804"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8B8Xcaj804[/ame] The videos aren't of me as it's a bit difficult to video myself and drive. Overall well worth attending and the staff there are vey nice. First event the group I was in was a lift off over steer trial. Basically you have to lift off over steer the car on a wet slippery surface. To do this I had to basically turn my brain off so I wouldn't automatically correct as I would normally. This was done in a S60 D3 Auto. Then it was a race through a little track layed out with cones, this is in a more powerful S60 D5 Auto. Then it was the prodrive event, this is the only event where you don't get to drive and a professional takes you around a track with very sharp turns and long straights. This was in a S60 D5. Then I get to try and crash the car...well try the auto braking feature and adaptive cruise control....the only time you get to drive a manual over an auto....mainly because your only doing 40mph max in a straight line. Then finally and the best event.....outrun a police car on a technical track. In a S60 D5 Auto. Get to both drive and be a passenger in the getaway and and police cars whilst been driven by the professionals. Thoughts on the car. Very capable chassis and the diesels are pretty impressive. (Even the D3 can shift but the D5 with its 210bhp aint to bad either). Though I don't think I'd buy one sadly. The reason for this is the size of my feet. I'd personally opt for a manual when buying a car and the top right of my left foot rubs against the steering coloumn when using the clutch. (Very noticable on my foot whilst steering). Don't have this issue in the auto though.

Post 338974 by chris1d on 2010-10-17 22:26:59

I didn't attend in the end, due to lack of funds to get there :( However, I'm pretty glad I didn't as looking at the T&C's I wouldn't have got to drive much. I'm 24, so I wouldn't have been allowed to drive anything over 191bhp. Rules out the D5 and the T6...

T6 was used at York - like the diesel, just faster - not overly exciting.

just got back from my naughty trackday, not a bad day at all. Was a very good insight to how well the chassis's have developed & how well balanced a FWD can be. Not overly impressed with the lift-off oversteer controls, was correcting it myself just as quick/well as the computer did (even tho i wasn't meant to lol). The staff were brilliant & had a very good laugh, not enough cocktail sausages tho & would of been nice to drive a manual to compare with the auto's. Certainly some money spent by Volvo, not tempted to buy one tho i'm afraid nice to meet up with you again Lance

Did any of you who went to brunters notice an old plane that looks very strange (top of the fuesalage is is much bigger than the bottom)? Its called the super guppy and was used to transfer bits of the space shuttle (among other things) during its service. I have a mate who works on it at weekends, you may have seen his XC90 D5 there. Plane looks like this Image

Think there must of been about 20 XC90's roaming around, did spot a dark blue 855 with clear rear lights think they were working on an old Bucaneer jet

Post 340057 by LiamT4 on 2010-10-23 16:00:49

What are the chances! I went on google to get that pic of the super guppy, thought "yeah that looks a decent pic and looks like its definatly at brunters as well", now i'v looked at it again it looks like my mates silver XC90 is parked behind it! I'm only on a little notepad, can anybody with a bigger screen zoom in more and confirm it. It looks like an XC90 to me.

Fantastic day and well done and thank you to volvo and the staff. I think the new S60 is a good clever car, I would have also liked a go in a manual and I had to try and switch off to let it do its stuff which wasnt easy. I would concider one in a few years once deprication has kicked in. Some good driving by the pro drivers showed the cars handling and drivers further capabilities at much higher speeds aprox 90mph. It would have been nice to have a go harder but I guess that would potentially be even more expensive for Volvo. The difference in handling between a new S60 and current V70 was night and day interms of body roll in the chase which was great fun. Good to see Pedro & bro. I am going to keep and eye out for any other free track days you really cant beat playing in some one elses car even if you cant quite push it to the absolute max.
