Apparently its called Nautic Blue Pearl and the seller believes there were only 20 sold in this colour.I assume in the UK not worldwide.

Its certainly a rare colour to see the S70R's in, I have seen many a V70R in that colour but the S70R's seem to come in Silver mostly.
I would probably also say in the UK and its a beliveable number when you think there was under 200 Yellow 850 T5-R's imported to America.

One of the reasons i was keeping mine was that s70r's seemed quite rare, now loads of people have them!! Knew i should have sold it and got another t4 lol (only joking, no need to kill me!)
Very nice car you have there, in my fave colour for the s70r as well.

I was reading that there are very few S70R in the country and those that have them are holding onto them.Finding this one was pure luck but ive had to pay handsomely for it.

Well, although there seem to be a few more appearing on here latley, i honestly can't remember the last time i'v seen an s70r and i went to a few meets this year.
If its in as good condition as it looks and with its low mileage, i'd say its worth it. I payed just over £3k for mine at the start of the year, when it had 92K on it and mines in a reasonably good condition. If you like the car and don't mind spending the money, then its worth it.

I agree I also cant remember the last time I saw one.I intend to keep it in the same condition and as I only do around 8,000mls a year it should still be pretty low when I sell in a couple of years.I think they are well worth the money though.I mean you could buy something newer but totally mundane and forgettable for what you paid for yours but why would you.

Yeah I think they are a lot of car for the money surprised it hadnt sold sooner.Perhaps it is due to the fact that a car like this has a limited market in that only Volvo enthusiast`s know their real worth ?

Well got it home and its virtually mint and drives so tight and rattle free its hard to believe its not new.The interior is pristine and it has stacks of paperwork including old MOT`s even old tax discs.It also has a spare comet alloy in the boot.

Believe it or not I saw it on AT but the previous owner who part ex`d to the dealer I bought it from is a VOC member.Chatted with him this evening.He is a lovely chap who originally bought it because he also had an S60R in Blue.Was forced to sell by his wife who needed a V70 to take her wheelchair and as he already had 12 other cars he regrettably sold it.Asked me again if I would give him first refusal if I sell.
I must just say the dealer I bought it from Anthony White is a superb guy and a real car enthusiast especially for Volvo.He had a further two Volvo`s in stock and was very knowledgeable about the marque.

So I havent found a bill yet for changing the gearbox oil and I have not actually checked the colour of the oil yet.Gearbox feels good but I am concerned having read that I could cause harm by changing the oil now?

Although the Volvo intervals for gearbox oil changes are different accross the ranges I believe the interval for the autobox ATF change is 100,000 miles.
I would reccommend changing the oil and it "shouldn't" do any harm. I say this as I have never heard of anyone who has had any problems. I would reccommend genuine Volvo ATF oil however which I think is Dextron 2 quality or above. It take around 7 litres and should cost around £40-50 for 5 litres.

Ive seen this for sale on Autotrader for ages, probably because of the price, but ive really admired it. I ALSO remember it being on Ebay a year or so ago, with a GAV reg plate. Then, it was owned by a Volvo mechanic and it HAS been pampered ;)

Hey thanks for that info Liddo very interesting and yes your right it wasnt cheap I managed to chip a bit away but as soon as I saw & drove it I had to have it. It obviously was loved in that it has I think 14 stamps in the service book. It had a service at about 85k then got another service at about 86K in Sept this year. The last three letters of the plate are GAW its got a private plate with a reference to the model which is why it has stayed with the car. I would love to get in touch with that mechanic owner though.

It does look lovely, and im NOT jealous at all ;) Ive always wanted an S70R, but after having about 8 T5's, i know how much they cost to run, so i could only have one as a weekend toy. If i remember correctly (being an S70R stalker) yours was on Ebay last year for 4k!!! and lots of members noted on here that there was no way he'd get that, even in the condition it was.
I presume you bought GAW from Nottingham?? Thats the last place i saw it, and it was STILL well over the 3k mark ;)
I hope it serves you well, and if you sell one day, Im might be in the position for a "weekend" car ;)
P.S, as i said, i doubt the gearbx will need a service, its been WELL looked after. Just check the smell and colour of the fluid in it ;)

I really liked my previous T5 but this is a different animal it combines a lot of the stuff my T5 had but is much more planted and quicker. The interior and exterior is also so much sexier too. Im lucky I do around 8 or 10,000mls per year so its not going to rack them up much and a good reason I could afford it. I bought it from the Derby area which is where the dealer was located and a cracking guy he was too. A real petrolhead & enthusiast he had bought and sold the car twice so knew it well. The oil does not seem to smell and is a light brown with a very slight red tinge. I would still like to know when it was done so I can plan for the next change. In the meantime I have noticed one of the alloys needs refurbing just on the rim so I will spend some cash on getting that done then get it professionally detailed I think. Im starting to think I am merely the curator of this car keeping it lovely to hand down to the next owner.

Errrrmmm, Im the same mate. Buy a car, get it right by spending lots of cash on it, love it and sell it! ;)
Ive only had my BM 3 weeks and Ive spent nearly £500 on it and Im trying to sell it to buy another Volvo :slap:

Forget about the price, if your happy with the car, thats all that matters. Volvo 850R/T5R's and S/V70R's are underated by most people and if everyone knew what a good car they can be then they would be worth more, imo.

Well I managed to get in touch with the "Volvo mechanic" a smashin bloke and yes from what he has told me he has really pampered it. So now I have pretty much the full provenance for the car. The gearbox oil has been changed but I think I will get it changed now its turned light brown just for peace of mind.
