Evening all can anybody recommend a trusted source to service the autobox on my S70R. I live in Cheshire so anyone in and around that area would be good.Another member recommended a member called pookie but have not heard from him yet.In fairness he is probably a pretty busy guy and I dont know if he is still taking on work. Thanks for reading

Ive used a place call "Barry Browns" in Orrell in Wigan, but they did charge me about £200-£250 iirc. The oil will set you back nearly a £100, PM Rufe and ask him for a price for the pucker Volvo stuff. Are you sure it needs the oil changing?? Id try and contact the previous owner, or the one before the previous owner, he was a Volvo mechanic (according to Ebay last year ;) ) He might have already done it, and it wasnt far off the mileage your on now iirc ;)

I've never personally used them, but the company Tameside Transmissions has been mentioned to me before. Take a look or give em a call. http://www.gearsandclutches.co.uk/

The gearbox is lovely and smooth and upon checking the oil it seems light brown with a Reddish tinge. I just want to keep the car in top condition as I have rather fallen in love with it to be honest. Im intrigued now as I have spoken to two of the owners who are superb guys and cherished the car but I did not know about the Volvo mechanic.

If it was dark and smelt burnt, then you'd go for a change. Id spend your cash on a proper body protection valet ;) Deffo deffo had a Volvo mechanic owner, i rememeber the car well :D PS, this type of thread needs to be in the 70s Series section (for future ref of course ;) )

So would anybody be interested in earning some beer tokens. I dont have any experience or the confidence if im honest to do it myself. I also dont have the tools or an appropriate area to do this. You have to feel sorry for me now ;)

LOL, you DONT need to doing, save ya cash ;) Your oil sounds fine, and the gearbox is nice and smooth, so id say leave well alone. If it aint broke, dont fix it ;) If you MUST change the oil, ring around a few gearbox specialists and see how much they charge for a flush, as IF your box plays up after a garage has done the work, you'll have some comeback
