Brilliant mate, nice list :)
Should get you up to around 150 bhp, what do you reckon?

t38 ooooooooooooooo
Post 350373 by LiamT4 on 2010-12-12 22:34:06
I'm not jealous at all!;)
150bhp! On an old 4cyl, 8 valve, you must joking, it may get about 140bhp but not 150bhp! :hilarious
Thats gonna be a beast :firedevil when its done, can't wait to see it running.
Looks like you'll be going for 12's as well.

I'd be very happy with a 14.5 for mine but as yours will probably be running over 100bhp more, you may go a bit quicker!
Post 350380 by redbaron on 2010-12-12 22:45:52
hey man thats a pretty serious build you have going on,I'm currently doing the same only I'm staying with standard rods at the minute due funding and probably upgrading to a 5 cyclinder later on. What management system are you planning to use?

13.9 last time mate so you never know and this time i will have 225s on the back at 20 psi so loads of traction and turbo running at 1.6 to 1.8 bar should get the old girl moving a tad lol

emerald mate the standard rods are good i was running 18 to 20 psi on a t35 hybrid and i had no probs with the rods mate but because im upgrading so much and running up to 28 psi i best be safe than sorry and change the rods
Post 350394 by redbaron on 2010-12-12 23:22:42
good point, I was under the impression that volvo rods were good but once you started getting close to 250hp then they start getting bendy. I'm planning to run with a t30 and a chipped volvo ecu until i can figure out megasquirt mapping. I honestly thought a t35 would snap the rods and melt pistons hence my choice of going a bit smaller

no mate its all about fueling and the boost was never a problem and my car hit 20psi at 2800 rpm up to the rev limiter of 6k the redblock 13mm rods are good for 300 bhp whp mate no probs .i never hit under 290 and 350 bhp on different rollers ,just get an fpr, bigger injectors ,and 22 psi out of that t3 and enjoy mate,my car is on the rollers on voc under performance section and its also on here under hlm charity day mate.the car was on standard cam and standard ecus no chips
Post 350463 by redbaron on 2010-12-13 19:26:55
holy good frig just watched the videos on VOC there, good job. question for you though I've never really understood the whole turbo sizing thing ( i understand a t35 bigger than a t40 etc etc ) but what is a t3? injector wise i was going for either the yellow bosch ones from a 3lt 960 or reds from a t5
no were near mate more like 137 bhp lol
you never know, maybe you'll get a drop in bhp instead mate lol
down to 135 ;)
Post 350471 by smithy on 2010-12-13 20:12:09
the way it works is is t25,t28,t3,t34,t38,t4 etcand the t35 is a hybrid of a t34 but bigger internals and mine used a different exhaust housing .if i was you i would use me7 blues and a fpr because reds are smaller than stock 940 injectors.but remember you have to do the resistor mod to use high rez injectors because 940s use low rez injectors

Theres a good list there but been having a good think about it and i do think the car will be slower with the extra weight lol
Picked another t5 box up the other day which has very low miles on it since rebuilt and bring on the 16v goodness

make sure it will fit your manifold mate if not you will have to have it machined mate.if you need my info mate dont hessitate to ask mate.
Post 350742 by redbaron on 2010-12-15 23:15:20
nothing is going to fit really tbh, going to have to place turbo where washer/coolant bottles are in the front left corner of the bay due to brake servo and steering linkage in the way. Got the block painted earlier another coat tomorrow then its time to start the fun and games
Post 350778 by t5 pete on 2010-12-16 14:07:15
There was a bloke who have a 245 who managed to fit the turbo in with the 760 turbo manifold on and customised the down pipe a little but there wasnt much room.
The best thing to do on the 240's is to have a custom manifold made which eliminates the clearence problems im also going to search for a slimmer brake booster which will allow more room
Post 350841 by smithy on 2010-12-16 20:55:31
i forgot you have a 240 so i totally agree with pete get custom manifold made .the new season is going to be good with all these rwds modded and tuned ready for the stripe

I've been hearing a lot lately that solid renault tappets are the way foward for these redblock engines, any experience of knowledge of them?
Post 351983 by smithy on 2010-12-23 22:47:27
the redblocks have solid rockers anyway that are shimed for the cam that you use mate i have no probs with mine and that is with uprated valve springs from kent
Post 357603 by smithy on 2011-01-31 22:00:18
my plans have had to change because of finances so im going to do all the hard ware but the software is going to have to wait till next year.so the turbo and rods will be fitted but the standalone will have to wait .so i will not be running the power i wanted to but dont worry the car will be quick but running on standard ecus boohoo lol.but the boost should hit around 24 psi when i put the maff sencer in a 4in pipe .

you will need a cam too mate to make it rev and exhaust and filter then the redblock n/a really livens up mate.its all about breathing with n/a mate.

Its the head that was originally on the engine (FB engine), it had a problem with corrosion around the water ports on the head surface, so had to fit a 530 from my old 940. It has the VX cam on it too.
