Well the time has come again for york race way im aiming for the 29th of may which is a bank holiday weekend. Also if the weather is nice there will be camping the night before with bbq. York has just recently done there track up so it should be really good. As before york always saves us are own allocated spaces and own lane for the 1/4mile so we all race together. Can i have names for who wishes to attend and who wishes to attend and run the 1/4mile. Also this is not a open rwyb so it wont be packed out as you have to book spaces, so we should have loads of runs. Its not just limited to volvos so if you have friend who want to attend aswell there more than welcome. Heres the link to york race way web site. If richards s60r is working well then we know it can do low 13s, smithys car will depend a lot on if its had any issues sorted and also if he's had enough time to practice with it. I'll be very interested to see what your s60t5 can do as they are a bit of an unknown to me on the 1/4mile, of the couple i'v been in they weren't that great off the line but once they started going past 50-60ish they really started to fly, its just that on the 1/4mile so much is down to the start, so depends on how good you are getting it going. Should have good terminal speed i'd have thought.

(The clutches dont tend to lock very well above 1500rpm if your using a progressive clutch technique). You probably want to go for a lowish pressure for front tyres, high pressure for rears. You will probably be subject to boost limits in 1st and 2nd gear so maybe change at 4500-5000 into second and third then change at around 6000-6500 into forth. Other than that, keep your foot on the floor and when changing gears try to meet the revs with the accelerator.

On the S60R you just have to come straight up off the clutch when launching or it doesn't move and theres lots of smell. Not done that many 1/4 mile drag races to be honest. I have had a bit of a mare this week with cars things, no decat, the WI isn't running, but i have just finished putting the OMP's in, they weigh 18kgs each inc subframes, but if i ditch the subframes and get some alloy OMP mounts they will be about 9kg each.

14.7399 @ 99.52 mph Much better traction than last years aborted attempt, think I can still do better though! hitting the soft limiter in the gears before changing due to the excitement (that was only my 3rd ever 1/4 mile run) 60ft time was 2.5878 so plenty to be gained there too... I hear 2.2 is good, so that would bring me down to under 14.5 If I could manage that. Can't believe what a difference having the CC3 tyres on has made to the car, got a full hook up in 1st, 2nd and 3rd on that run, was running 27PSI (in my tires :D ) Will try taking the spare wheel and my bag of tools out the back next time - and try not to put £30 of 95 RON in by MISTAKE on the way to the meeting!! Wobbly's C70 is a Monster in 3rd Gear.... he pulled about 2 car lengths on me from 65-100 Was a great day and fantastic to meet all you geezers from the Forum - forgot to take photos, anyone got any Pics they want to post up??

Smashing day out despite the weather being a bit unruly. Very pleased with my times over all. I think I am missing a run against Frank. All but 1 of my runs was below the 100 mph mark & did a personal best to win the 70 series trophy. Road tyres worked better than the slicks for that final run. I was able to launch without spinning at 3500. I wish there had been time to try out 4K. Best time was 14.613 - 102.99 however I did another 14.67 at 103.22 I judged everyone's car for the Show & Shine so congratulations to Liam for making a great effort. I am not promising to run at Avon Park in July yet, but we will see. It was really good to see everyone. Smashing 4 car convoy on the way home - turned a few heads.

Very good turnout yesterday, my times were a bit dissapointing especially getting getting beat by leet5r lol. I was over fuelling like mad and kept bogging down low down in the rev range thanks to santa for videoing my 2 worst runs, my first and 4th (last) run went well-ish still only managed a 15.08 with terminal of 100mph. I desperatley need the map on this turbo tuner looking at plus a few other mods lined up when when funds allow, which should be done by next year. Big thumbs up to every one who turned up especially smithness for fastest time of the day. cheers Danny

That was a great meet and a very good turnout, but what is it with york and crap weather! lol Really had a good time even though my cars seems to be getting slower and slower. Cheers to smithy for trying to get it to go faster :B_thumb:, he was up early on sunday morning before everyone was arriving trying to set up my actuator, it seemed quicker when we went for a drive, but not when it got on the track, but theres only so much you can do with a knackered actuator. The induction noise is very loud now, considering its just a panel filter. I had to stop for a sleep on the way home i was that tired, then went sleep about 10pm last night and got up at 11.30 this morning. lol Considering the difficulties most people where having getting off the line i think there were some good time yesterday and well done to dean in winning 3 trophies (greedy git lol). Cheers for the lend of the helmet james and to frank and richard for the offers, i'd already left when you had replied but cheers. Lots of nice cars there and theres something about darks 850s and volans that just go together just right. Good to see new people coming along.

How is that improving safety - making everyone suddenly slow down. There wasn't any reason either, as the next one had the normal sign on it. Would it really have been fair on anyone whos just driving along at 70mph, good weather/visibility driving safe but not notice the sign early enough and not slow down in time, to get a speeding ticket. Needed to have a moan about that. lol

Problem - random loss of power - would suddenly have nothing under the right foot, slowed down even quicker when you put your foot down, then would pick up and recover for a bit and run fine. No warning signs on the dash. Was OK for a while then would randomly lose power again. Seems like a fuel supply issue as when it ran it was fine, and started after it had been at a steady throttle loading and RPM on the cruise control and you plipped the throttle. It's still working, drove it on and off the ramp - will get it recovered to Drivers if possible they will be able to sort it this week! Don't need it for a fortnight so no biggie :)

It was quite a bit shorter, but even with the boot pushed through the back window and the side wrinkled all the doors still worked and i managed to drive it home (slowly). Just wish i hadn't sold all the good bits because now i've got to buy them all again. It was such a good car its a shame it ended like this The only thing i kept was the T5 badge, which is good as my new car has been debadged.

HI I am very sorry i had too leave early without doing the last run and not saying goodbye, had an emergency in Cleethorpes that i had to get back too pronto, 2 kids missing and a dog, out in the North Sea on a bloody sand bank we found out in the end. Anyway, had a brilliant time, great too meet you all, those first 2 vids Santa were of me V the black Honda and the kit car, track was awful really bad, but i managed a 14.69 at 100mph, wheelspin was a problem for me also in 1st and 2nd, plus i had too snatch 4th gear everytime to get over the line as i was hitting the limiter in 3rd at 7100rpm. not sure where the car stands now, i have spent too much money on her, the pot has dried up and for the extra mods v £'s i wasn't very happy with the car on the day, Well we have 6 weeks too the next event, so hopefully get better times with the nice surface at Avon. Oh and i did my O/S strut top mount on that back pit road, no wonder my suspension was tramping on my last run lol. Gary.

Gary.[/quote] your car must be running very similar power to mine 19t etc etc i managed a 14.6@100mph but we were all getting slow 60ft times 2.5-2.8 was mine so i would have had low 14's in that car with the right start at the right track same as yours will. what i did notice i can get over the line in 3rd with the 19's on

if it's a good track you can get 2.0 right ? That means my 1/4 would be 14.2 .... about right for a terminal of 99.5 I think mine would benefit less from the good surface as my traction was excellent this year (compared to last year anyway!) got a good hookup 1st 2nd and 3rd.

With some very simple and inaccurate maths if I pulled the usual 1.92 ish 60ft over 2.22 I'd have been in the 11's :-p (Obviously that doesn't take into account lots of stuff lol).

HI Guys, i was out earlier checking my new discs to go on the car and i noticed that i have several cuts in the tyre tread, in 2 places the tread looks to have been cut out as if driving on flint. Bloody York surfaces.. so check your tyres guys. Gary
