Speaker removal

Good afternoon, Could anyone advise the best way to remove the driver's door card to remove the driver's door speaker. Mine has started to crackle constantly. Now that I have persuaded the wireless to work again the crackling from that particular speaker is annoying. Thanks in advance

Presumably it's a Phase 1 70-series car (ie up to about year 2000)? From memory (it's been a while) there's a little tab that you have to lift off with a small flat screwdriver, inside the door handle recess. Remove torx screw behind it. The rest, as far as I can recall, is held on with push clips. Basically you have to unclip everything and then lift the card vertically up so it detaches the window seal. Gently so as not to rip the wiring out! You can then unplug the connectors from the back of the door card and set it aside. If you are local to Hatfield and can't work it out, pop round and I'll help out :)

That was very useful thank you. I will make an attempt later this afternoon.

Not to steal your thread but does anyone have a good clear picture of a 70 door card please?.

Don't worry about stealing any of my threads. It's always interesting to read other members' comments. I can take a photo of the driver's door card from my 1999 model if that helps. Just send a PM with email address etc. If you would like another door card photographed just let me know. Thanks again to Al115. Superb advice. One little tab behind the grab moulding, undo the torx screw and then use fingers to pull the panel back away from the door. It helps to remove the cover over the mirror fixings first as well as the oval surround for the door handle. I refer to my other post for assistance on removing the wireless unit. I seems if I merely threaten my car with some "fettling" it seems to repair itself. The speaker crackled merrily, I adjusted the balance and it's fine now. A ten minute job. Now I like those very much. Needless to say one of the little white nylon clips that retains the panel was already broken. I wonder why they make them from such a brittle material.

Ah yes, I forgot the door handle surround :) Glad it's sorted!
