Hello all, Surfice it to say happy to find a largely UK T5 board. Bought my first in May (850 Saloon T5 CD) and have already racked up 20K miles without a hickup (touch wood!). Loving the car. First thing I did with it was go for a 2 week drive around Europe with some friends. Apart from french customs taking the dashboard apart outside Lille to search for contraband and some Spanish oiks in Alicante stealing our luggage from the boot (I now know where the seat locks are!), she proved well up to the job. Most fun I had was driving through Gibraltar, although finding a place to park wasn't easy! Which reminds me that I have a yellow "GBZ" sticker that I must put on the back. Decisions for the future are: a) either stick with this car, which works ace and go for a nice ECU upgrade. or b) trade up for a T-5R and then get an ECU upgrade. Thoughts? Anyway, looking forward to contributing and definatly interested in attending a few socials/gatherings - no matter how far away. Cheers!

Welcome aboard!!! What an intro!!! :thewave: A few plans are in the pipeline for next year for meets - I am sure we will be doing the Santa Pod (1/4 mile) racing, there is something lined up for a weekend trip to scotland, Murphy is trying to arrange a weekend away @ a posh Hall (of which the name completely escapes me right now) so we would love to see you at some!! Where abouts are you based in the country? T5 or T5R?? Well once the ECU upgrade is done the cars will be on a par power wise so it depends whether you want the exclusivity of an R or are happy with your stealth bus? LOL Keep us updated and we want pics!! x

I'll be honest and say that my 850's and even my C70 plough like a farmer in a hurry when you get on the power mid bend, because the front wheels lite up even without a ECU upgrade. If they aint 4X4 then whats the point, other than better brakes. Oh and lower firmer suspension. MMMMM yes I forgot the prittier wheels and grill. EERRMM well besides all that whats the point. :shifty:

No the 850 R's are not 4 wheel drive. As for the pretty wheels and R bumper - that can all be added to a T5 anyway as can lower and better suspension. What you get with a T5R or an R is the label and exclusivity (oh and the half leather half suade interior)!!! Which I think I could cope with!!! x

Hello my friend :welcome: Indeed a man after my own heart. I too did a few extra miles when I first got her. Didn't quite go all that way - but I did reach Dover! I have manage most parts of England in her. Alas the gearbox didnt last the journey but she is all better now. I am a bit biased so I would say T5-R/R first, in answer to your question. They are rarer and a bit special - some though can have been abused so be careful when choosing. Enjoy the ride!

Thanks all for the welcome. Well I'm certainly interested in the T5-R after those comments, although I am happy to sit on this one for a while until a nice one comes along. To tide me over I might just might plum for the ECU upgrade in Jan anyway! I am going to email some pictures to Justin as asked...although most are show quite a layer of dust! Really wish I had taken more now. Am going to carry my camera to all good places I drive from now on and keep a kind of log of places the car has visited. Christmas isn't looking particuarly exciting so I may have to trawl up and down the country... As for the nick/handle, 'debug' has been around for a while and I took it from from an old computer program used in the antient days (about 10 years ago!!!). The meets sound good, I'm definatly up for a bit of racing and equally enjoy evenings in swanky country homes. I'll post a message in the meetup section with some ideas.... Thanks again guys & gals. debug
