I thought it was cheap and then I thought it was a £2000 payout waiting to happen. The last part says it all. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2000-VOLVO-V70-T5-SE-GEARTRONIC-AUTO-SPARES-REPAIR-/230636439047?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D4%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D849431585683939051

Sussex Autos FTW. New box, auto or Geartronic, box is the same the loom is different. Don't bother trying to mend it cos it'll never work properly again . . .

It's the same spec as Christine and she has been a cow from day one. So if anyone is thinking of buying this, I'll say be it at you own risk, that year was a bad one for the V70 T5 P1

You could try the servo cover mod, fluid flush and a TCM reload but you'd have to buy the car first . . .

I don't know why - as these also have their fair share of reliability problems. FFS - made by a bunch of Brummies!?! so what do you expect - LOL

Landies -> Disco II are just huge Meccano sets. Tractors with weatherproofing and air con. That doesn't mean they're bad for off roaders, just that they feel like a half million rivets in loose association. Don't buy one unless your bank account will stand a regular blood -letting. Freelanders are absolute sh1te! Don't bother. V6 horribly thirsty. 1.8 uses a new head gasket every week and the 2.0 litre diesel is either crap or BMW crap. Avoid. In fact buy an S80 T6. It will be cheaper to run . . .
