Hi all, hows it going? I need a bit of advice.... Due to the location of my workplace being changed to a right dive, a place without secure parking, there is the possibility that I may have to leave my beloved S60 parked on the road anything up to 300m away from the workplace, whilst I'm away from it anything up to 10 hours. Of course I'm now thinking that I don't want to do that. Any suggestions about a little runaround to buy? I might have to get a little car purely for transport to and from work. Now my dilemma is, I spend most of my time in work or going to and from there. If I buy a little runaround I could end up using that more than the S60. Which is bad. What would you do?

buy cheap nasty punto or similar for @£300, park it anywhere and dont give a sh*t about it.....you will get your money back in peace of mind alone AND your volvo will feel like a limo/rocketship/sportscar (delete as necessary)..at the weekends..and yer keepin the miles down, jobs a good 'un

Sounds like an idea, the only downside to this is having another car parked outside the house but its a good idea because its a solution. I'm certain that leaving my S60 parked on the roadside outside work will make the criminal damage pixies have a melee on it. Or should I try for my bikers licence, is it straightforward and quick for the direct access does anybody know?

straightforward, quick and no use for the winter months..so im told?..haven't sat my bike test, but used to use old aircooled yamaha rd400 and rd250's all year round when i was young and dumber, and f**k me i remember it being a cold winter!!!

You can have my Citroen BX for £150 - its great. Paid 200 for it as a temp car while I looked around for replacement and kept it for 4 years. Each year it has failed its MOT, one wiper blade, one bush, one bulb and one washer pump. It is one disposable motor but it just keeps going and going and going. Never drive it now I have the T5, unless going to somewhere dodgy of off road. LOL W:>)

How about the usual, Micra, 106 Derv, fiesta derv? always good for comedy cars!

I still say Almera, bigger than a micra and can fit allsorts in the boot with the hatch, also better built and stupidly cheap to insure, plus their that dull looking that no one notices them!

good point, a friend of mine has just bought a 2.0l GTi for £400 excellent condition, and pretty quick considering.
