The time of year has once again arrived where the Marham track day is upon us. It provides an excellent opporunity for amateurs to have a go at track racing. Best of all if I remember correctly it is well under £100 to enter all day... around £60 if I remember correctly. If anyone is intersted more information can be found here: http://www.marhamtrackday.co.uk/ The only unfortunate case is no spectators are allowed due to insurance, however this can be overcome if you are attending as an "assistant" ;) I will be there as its on my doorstep. Anyone else interested?

yeah I used to serve at Marham Airbase, would be good to drop by for old times sake.

Remember to take harry black maskers to cover your headlights - I forgot on my first few laps & chipped the projectors. I will think about it - but having done a proper track at Cadwell - airfield tracks are a bit 2 dimensional. I will let you know soon

At least with an airfield however there is plenty of flat run off and if you do overthrow the track you are not going to cause any real damage.

I am not knocking it - for track day newbies it is ideal as is Bruntingthorpe. If anyone has not done a track day before this is an ideal place to start. I will come if there is sufficient Volvo based interest.

Post 400458 by The Flying Moose on 2011-08-01 23:16:17

It would certainly be good to get a decent Volvo turnout. Last year I was working and popped down in the Van to watch, over 10 cars from the Saab turbo club turned up and raced. Would certainly make a change to see a group of Volvo's showing up the Subaru's and Evo's... although not in the corners of course!!!

I dunno - I was able to compete well with most things at Cadwell - M3 & skylines alike. The evo's there were quite a bit modified so i was not quite in the same league. However the C70 is running spot on now and with the quaiffe diff - she ain't slow in the corners.

Last time I drove to Norfolk it took nearly 6 hours with pee stops... Although that was in a Renault Extra diesel. Having said that, My auntie lives right on Thetford forest so I could pop in and see her too.

In your defence however, Norfolk is possibly the worst county in the UK for access. There are really only two main routes both of which are single lane A roads with no real overtaking points and all of which are forever congested by tractors which refuse to pull over.

Give me the M25 on a hot summers day in rush hour any day!! lol Now Marham track day..... ummm..... Can I live with the (extra) stone chips... lol

Other than that I Ilike that part of the world :)

That runway and all the taxi ways are swept daily for those very much articles, a stone can take out a Tornado engine if it makes its way into the intake, and as such the matter is taken very seriously. Secretly, deep down you know you want to attend. [quote=cherry1809;400496]That and if you go at the wrong time of year everything smells of cabbages. My advice would be to not run too long (7 or 8 laps max) & allow plenty of time to cool down. Chock the rear wheels - & dont use the handbrake when stationnary. Don't VMAX it on every run down the runway. you'll be fine.

Post 401241 by Wobbly Dave on 2011-08-04 12:31:29

I have 1 spare if you need it. I bought my own off ebay for 15 quid. I got my extinguisher from halfords & I just cable tie it to the front passenger seat adjuster. Scrutineers were happy enough with it. I checked my exhaust at Cadwell - it is quieter a 3000 rpm than Hamish's D5 Green goddess. I only have a single silencer - I am sure you will be just fine Dave.
