Hi all ive just brought forged rods and im putin them in ina few weeks will i need new piston rings when i put it back together? If not is it wise to do so? Thanks

Hi mate it's always wise to while the pistons are out, if money is limited you can always do a compression test before you strip the engine to see the condition of them.

Thanks mate i take it the ones to get are from volvo themselves? How much are they roughly do you no or anyone no?

I got a price from volvo with my trade discount foe 5 piston rings £180 all in. But exhaust unlimited do them cheaper but i dout they are genuine volvo ones! Wich is the better option bearing in mind mind ill be runing over 300hp i dont tgink it maters to much but any opinions?

Can't really see why the cheaper ones won't be any good, just remember to glaze bust the bores to let the rings bed in.
