Is there any chance we can get somthing in place so that if anyone post a comment againts one of your pictures in your albums, you get an alert? I just noticed a comment from 2009!!!! and there is no point replying to it as that person would never know I did.
The forum in some ways is getting very dated, why dont we start somthing so that users can donate towards the running of the site. I read a couple nites ago on a users wall that he finds this forum hard to use, because he doesnt get alerts......

I find PM alerts via email enough, I agree that there should be some sort of option to receive alerts for various things, although I wouldn't use them. Having spent a little while trying to navigate other forums (ahem T5D5) I still find this the easiest and most user friendly forum by far. If only Facebook was like VPCUK. ;)

Yeah but if your not seeing comments that people have left for over 3 years its a bit pointless having a comment function.....
Oh and email PM alerts hahaha havnt had them on here for years due to supposed spam it's the only forum I have used that has stopped them if you use hotmail, and i'm on T5D5, VOC, V70R, and detailerworld althought this is the only one I really use and post on. I'm bloody sure im not changing my email address i have had forever.

I get pm alert emails on my hotmail account. Switched it on a few weeks ago and it's been quite useful ;)

Justin must have got it turned on again, becuase when I asked him a couple years ago he said I couldn't recieve them through hotmail anymore.
I know how you must find it hard keeping up with Facebook, I do to. But there are a few things that could be done to this site to make it better.
If you didnt want those alerst then simply untick the box as you have with your post alerts. I dont want the layout of the site to change I like it.
I hope somthing gets done here but I doubt it will. :(

yoo hoo Martin you have a message :)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, as the old saying goes, the good points, for the user on this site faaarr outweigh the bad points. Other than the "new posts" system, which could do with a tweak, I wouldn't change a thing.

Martyn has a very valid point! I moaned about this last year. When i first joined the forum i would get reply messages in my Hotmail all the time. These were incredibly useful, especially if, like me, you've been looking at a lot of threads and replied to quite a few. Then when you go back to the site a few days later, everything is updated, New threads have appeared and for the love of God you can't remember what threads you have and haven't replied to!
It worked fine for years then all of a sudden i noticed that the reply notices had stopped. VERY ANNOYING!!!:(
PLEASE CAN WE TURN THIS FEATURE BACK ON?????

Post 483248 by LeeT5 on 2012-04-08 16:46:06
Just thought i'd update this thread........
Well, i still do not get messages in my Hotmail if someone replys to a thread.
Guess we all wasted our breath even talking about it....?
Oh well, i'll just have to hope that i find the threads that someone has replied to in order that i may help them.

erm bit of a thread revival here and not something I was aware of.
I'll look into it.
Post 483256 by Santa on 2012-04-08 16:55:25
OK obviously stuffs happened since this thread and I wasn't aware of this. Just to be clear, those of you using Hotmail addresses dont get any notifications or just don't get notifications on gallery comments?
Cheers

I'm using Yahoo and I don't get any notifications from posts I've put up or commented on.
Post 483276 by M-R-P on 2012-04-08 17:57:35

A forum alert on message replied to from other users online is the way to go i feel.
having facebook and other online services flooding email accounts are bad enough.
although they can be marked as spam.
a online message to your mail box would be great

In the UserCP, click on Edit options down on the left hand side.
When on the Edit Options page go down to the Messaging & Notification section and configure the Default Thread Subscription Mode

I did all that years ago and it worked fine. Then it just suddenly stopped. I have been in an checked all the thread subscription settings and they are all on. I use Hotmail and i'm still not getting any notifications. Could it be because i switched to Hotmail Live account .co.uk? My email address is correct in VPCUK settings and i get notifications from eBay for example, no problem!!
I was subcribed to over 238 threads and i figured, maybe its too much. So i emptied my subscriptions folder and now i have to try and remember what threads i have replied to and in which section of the forum cos i still don't get any notifications. Its really frustrating so i apologise now to anyone reading this if you've asked me something and i've not replied!!
HELP!!!!

Well, well, well! Look's like someone has been busy cos all of a sudden i'm now getting thread messages in my Hotmail inbox. I'm assuming Santa has sorted this issue?
Anyway, just wanted to say 'Thanks':santa:!
