Well guys thought i would start a thread on my new project Started off gettin handed down my V70 from my granddad so major sentimental value ut me being me cannot keep a car standard!! So here is how it looked when i got it: Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Pretty clean motor for its age really, couple of bumps being my granddads work Done a couple of bits so far like tinted the windows as i own a window tint and valeting company, tinted the rear lights and put a H.I.D kit in, here is how it looks: Image Image Image Image Just bought a 1998 V70 T5 from my friends yard to break, going to have the engine, cruise control and onboard computer, going to give the t5 engine a full rebuild with everything uprated, going to try for the 350bhp - 400bhp, picking the t5 up tomorrow so will get some pics as will be selling a few bits of it like the leather interior and other bits and pieces, anyway that my progress so far reason for not just buying a T5R that i want is because the XLT has way to much sentimental value to let it go, anyways talk soon guys :)

Good luck with the project, and I look forward to seeing it all come together. Started my project now on the T5, but I'm not swapping engines or anything as drastic as that- well hopefully not! No seriously, cambelt service and PCV this Thursday and then tints next month and then...................................................................

Post 430607 by foammanmark on 2011-11-28 18:35:07

I think it around £400 for the cambelt service and PCV. However, the car has come with a set of plugs and oil filter, which might bring the price down slightly. I use Readview Volvo near me and they are very good with an excellent reputation. Adam goes on here so I have to be careful what I say!! He's been good for me, only the other week he repaired my D5 whilst I waited after a pipe came loose from the turbo, and I don't forget things like that!

Hi mate, a bit off topic but i need advice about tinting, the Mrs want's her V70 done but not as dark as "limo" but the best shade to keep the heat off the dogs in summer but still be able to see out of the window's, what would you recommend? and could you do it at a meet if you attended? Cheers

Cheers[/quote] hiya mate there is a lot of different tints, unfortunatly i cant really do it outside at a meet due to elements in the air and wind etc suggestion being go for a light smoke as all tints have a 99% uv protection, but as for heat no tints can do that much for heat, i mean dont get me wrong they do help a little, memory serves its about 16% heat reduction across the line, hope that helps :D

Post 430951 by daza-b on 2011-11-29 19:23:36

well as promised here are some pics of the other Volvo i have acquired today. Its a 2.4 20v turbo and the engine in it is for the V70 XLT i have, give it a bit more vaa vaa voom :D im going to start a new thread for the project of making a V70 T5 race car (the car looks a little tatty at the min but i did only pay £200 for it hehe Image Image Image Image Image Image a few bits are going to be up for sale like the leather interior etc but will post a thread when i have got them out, all the bits i will be selling are going to be nice and cheap so get ready for a couple of bargains :D

Well its been a short while since i have posted on this thread, as all my projects have been put on hold due to ill health and mega freezing conditions lol, but today i was looking at my shadow (my silver volvo before any of you say anything haha) and she just looked so filthy and under the weather... so i thought sod it lets mint her back up, this is what she looked like before i got round to it: Image Image Image Image then i got her cleaned up, even changed the grill as mine had no badge on it, some fecker nicked it, now she looks like this: Image Image Image Image Image Image Image all nice and shiny again :D next jobs are: locate a new front bumper (hopefully and V70R bumper but any silver one will do to make it look better) refurb the 850 T5 alloys i have got and get them on maybe look at getting a better rear bumper then eventually locate 2 passenger side doors as some **** head has bumped into them and slightly scuffed and dinted (can only notice uup close but its annoying me lol then after all that its ICE ICE baby time lol, going for a double din dvd player, full alpine type R with alpine type X sub and amp, and full sound proofing all around so get some mega bass on the go :D

Post 435073 by tim15888 on 2011-12-10 23:02:11

Well guys it has been a while since i posted on this, illness and work have stopped me from doing my plans, anyways, the project is ON!! lol im starting over the next day, here are some pics: Image got my v70 parked at the back on the unit ready for the transplant, just sticking the t5 block with the auto box until i have the manual bit. Had a nice delivery also today consisting of my R bumpers, sending them to my mate for repair/respray ready to stick on mine when the transplant is complete: Image so this is the last we will see of this slow ass 2.5 10v with its knackered auto box : Image and say hellloooo to the t5 engine...woop woop :D Image while its out im gonna give it a full service, belts, tensioners etc etc, do the pcv, service the auto box (grrr autos!) lol also gonna sort out a rip kit, and poss a better intercooler, but may do that after i have some more cash etc, also swapping over the 302s, a lot of work ahead but its finally in the go ahaed stages :D stay tuned folks :D

quick update, got the t5 engine close to out of the donor t5, just pricing up the bits ready for the conversion, thinking whether to just get on with the engine upgrades and give it a full on rebuild while its out, saves me pulling it out while its in, be like a yo yo then lol pictures will follow soon, just had ill kiddies so process is very slow at the min lol

Post 464550 by daza-b on 2012-02-19 10:49:58

newest updat, many thanks to foammanmark for the titans, could not wait to get them on and must say, the difference in ride is awesome! lower profile tyres etc makes it just that bit better for cornering etc, just on the look out for a full set of 4 tyres, going 215/40/17, instead of the 215/45/17 that are on, really liked the look of the tyres that TFM has, prada 2 i think, unless someone can give me some suggestions of what tyres to go for, its more the all weather grip factor im after, anyways here is a pic or two with them on, Image Image Image i think lowering is going to be one of the next jobs as it seem to sit very high, and also full refurb on the wheels too, either staying the colour they are or colour match them to the car? suggestions there too please :) the engine rebuilb should be underway in the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out for that too :)

Post 464553 by foammanmark on 2012-02-19 10:55:44

Post 464631 by daza-b on 2012-02-19 16:40:24

Got couple of jobs done on the car today, 1st off put the different clocks in, the ones with the info readings on, lost the rev counter and service light come up, which was expected, not getting the correct readings from the ecu, i know this will change once the t5 engine and ecu is in, also changed the door latch on the drivers front as the lights stayed on all the time, even turning the lights off was still killing my battery, anyway changed it, and to my disappointment the lights are still staying on, but the light in the drivers footwell is now going off, so gotta find out which one is not turning the lights off lol, changing the passenger doors over the next few days as mine have got the nasty dints in, and i know they have decent latches in so if the lights go off them i have cracked it, if not then its down to the drivers rear door and tailgate, either way, it will be fixed lol, also gotta get on with my t5 engine rapido as im getting a knocking noise from the 2.5 on start up, sounds like a sticking cam or something, so that the engine on its way and the auto box, the joys! lol anyways, enough boring ya now lol

Post 468036 by daza-b on 2012-02-28 21:31:14

well todays progress has been pretty slow, fighting with exhausts that wont split, power steering pipes being different and the fuel lines are different Thought it would be a nice simple swap over of the PAS pipes, but nooo it has to be a nightmare, one of the pipes would not come out of the rack so having to change the rack over with the spare i have, here is what is left of the exhaust: Image Image then here is how the rack looks lol: Image lots of swearing today and punch bag being abused lol not sure what to do with the fuel lines, think i have figured it but will soon find out, here is the difference: this is on the t5 block: Image and this is what is left in my shell: Image on a happier note, did give the engine bay a good clean up to make it look all so pretty lol Image Image got the t5 lump sat in the air patiently awaiting to be placed into the bay Image wont be doing nothing tomorrow as got some appointments to attend, so thursday hopefully will have the PAS rack changed and the t5 lump sat where it should be :)

Well engine is in, all plumbed up, but wont fire properly :( it fires and then dies near enough straight away, new sparks etc and fuel in the line, think it might be a return valve on the fuel line, as i recall mine not having one, or it may be further up the line? gonna take the valve out and see what happens then...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Just used Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Imageready. I keep meaning to do a better one, but haven't got round to it yet.

Done a little to it today, was too nice a day to waste in the garage, so all i have done is put in the boost gauge (not showing a pic of that as it look pretty dismal as i could only get a dash mount pod not an a pillar one, put on the top powerflex mount: Image set up the boost with the mbc as i was only boosting at around 6psi, now i have it set to about 12psi :), got a large list of parts im after now so ill be sorting them over the next few weeks, then its manual conversion time!!

Wow been couple of weeks since i posted on here, not done that much due to bein rather shhitty after my grandads funeral, but he would kick me in the head if he knew i was getting all down and upset, had a few bad headaches lately so he probably has been doing, got all the wheels off ready for calliper paint, full brake system bleed with some racing brake fluid, poss some braided lines and also the recon of the titans, put the R back bumper on, just gotta sort of the passenger exhaust trim as it looks a bit stupid at the mo, spent a couple of days minting the engine, interior and exterior, looks really good now, but found some oil under the spark cover so leads me to believe the PVC may be blocked, so ordering a set of new spark leads, rotor and dizzy tomorrow, while im at it im gonna do the timing belt and tensioner, aux belts and tensioner as its noisy, also going to use the spare sub frame i got and completely recon it with new lower arms and polybush and paint it all up with some high temp paint, lots to do but now i have bored you all with the crap i gotta do here are some lovely pics lol: before Image after Image Image Image Image Image the worst alloy is being a pain so may be on the look out for a new wheel, not got any pics of the progress with the filler primer but it still looks pants Image gonna get on with the other 3 over the next few days and hopefully look at getting it back on the road by about may time :)

Saw the car today and it is looking really good. The R bumpers are very, very nice and the car is a real credit to Daza-B. I look forward to seeing it with the Titans back on soon, and then we can have that race as well.

Even I get tummy-trouble from paint fumes, we use industrial paint at work and I supply the PPE to suit. That's how I know what you need. I had a quick look to see if we had any spare masks here but unfortunately not. loads of filter units tho. Wheels are looking superb, I just wish I chose that colour instead of... hell, Gunscrossed has the bolts now anyway... Vauxhall Silver Lightning (or gay blue as I prefer to call it) Keep it up mate, one day we'll all be at a big meet somewhere and we'll be trying to find fault in each - other's cars lol. (note the "shades of white" and "minor dent" counts in my sig;))

Daz, I really recommend a decent mask and A1 (with P2 add-on) filters, regardless of any health issues, if you're planning on doing a lot of spraying or you may as well start smoking again. (and if you do that, I'll personally come to Morcombe and pimp-slap ya ;))
