CHOICE :)
That said, not a fan of offset number plates (OCD) or projectors, but hey, what a sweet looking motor!

Looks fantastic mate. You are very lucky to have found it! I'm with Phil about the number plate though =) Any plans for engine mods or going to leave it standard?
Mitch.

lol i was about to say it shouldn't have a RIP kit, then spotted you'd fitted it. Looks very nice, shame to see that people are getting more money trading/scrapping them in than selling them on
Post 426149 by Shadow on 2011-11-15 16:55:58
thank's guys.
I have a lot of plans for the engine but no money just now:) aslo about the reg plate it was the only way i could mount it as i didn't want to put holes in the freshly painted bumper and it was kind of a rush job for the MOT. iv still got poly top mount and the lower wishbone poly bushes to fit.
this is where my love of volvo's started:)
that was another fluke. bought it off ebay from someone in wigan without even driving it and he delivered it to aswell. it been the most reliable car i ever had. iv been everywhere in it and everything in it still works still using it just now as the 850 is going off road for the winter. its also has a rich mod ECU fitted to it and even for an old car with 135,000 on it it still shows up a lot of the newer socalled hot hatches.

looks good the 850 :)

Great example, though I am not a fan of your mods. Glad you saved one though!

Very nice motor indeed mate. I have always been a fan of the T5-R's, I had a black manual T5-R saloon and now on a red auto R saloon.
Whats more its really nice to see the car getting the attention it deserves, very rare too are the yellow saloons.

how cheap. well the the 850 was £800 to buy and i spent about £500 on it so far and the 480 turbo was £450 to buy and i spent about £400 on it.
i get the feeling people are going to hate me now lol.
Post 426174 by T5frankie on 2011-11-15 17:50:57
£800 for a gull thats cheap mate well done
Post 426175 by The Flying Moose on 2011-11-15 17:52:52
Im not going to hate you for the price of the car... not in the slightest, I too have had a T5-R for little under a grand albeit not a yellow one.
Im assuming the £500 was mainly the re-spray in which case its still a very cheap car.
Post 426179 by Jamest5r on 2011-11-15 18:00:52
Fair play to you good job mate :)
As said above though move the plate and change the headlight's :)

Post 426206 by Shadow on 2011-11-15 18:40:14
@T5frankie. it was cheap but it was almost white down one side it had faided that much.
@ the flying moose. the respray only cost £250.57:) and i know you's don't really hate me:)
@ jamest5r. i still have the standard front lights and the plate was put the so i didn't have to put holes in my bumper.

i would if i could. the units i had where the car was sprayed caved in when the idiot that had the yard next door ran a truck recovery truck (the kind that can tow an artic) through the back wall.
Post 426243 by Jim S70R on 2011-11-15 19:24:18
Very nice car, you've made some very nice changes too. Keep up the great work.

Lovely looking car buddy, well done.and i like the 480 as well, not many of them about these days. Big thumbs up :B_thumb:

As I said last night, very nice pair of sweeds you have there. Didn't realise the work that went into the R - well done. Too many 850s getting broken or scrapped these days (although nobody bats an eyelid when somebody breaks a P2 but their time will come:))
Glad to see no pics of the mental MR2 this time lol;)
Post 426341 by AndysR on 2011-11-15 22:00:02
Nice looking car and it sounds like it's quite literally been saved!
I have to confess I don't like the headlights and the location of the front no. plate. If your worried about drilling the front bumper then stick the number plate on. Mines been fitted in this manor for over 4 years, it's still there and it's been bombarded with lots of warm soapy water over those last 4 years not mention the fact that it's been over 70 (recently on the 1/4 mile strip) and still showing no signs of going anywhere fast.. ;)
Post 426386 by Shadow on 2011-11-15 22:49:25
it was a good save. i always want one but could never afford one. it been brilliant and a lot of fun to work on and i learned so much about doing the bodywork that i now know why it cost so much to get a car resprayed. also you should of seen the guy's reaction at spray store paint's when i asked for a gallon of volvo 607 paint lol. he look at me and asked if i was having a laugh and went and got the colour samples and asked if that was the colour i wanted and when i told him yes that's colour of the car he wouldn't believe me so had a bet with him showed him the car and got the static sheeting and the roll of brown paper for free!.

I had same problem but double sided plate tape will work just fine - and that is with a plate held on the curve - needs to be the foam sandwich variety.

bit of an update.
got these form a scrapy from an r V70 t5
the only thing thats diffrent is mine has a pressure regulater where this rail just has a what looks like a regulater but it does'nt have a return line so that will need to be swoped over for the one from my car. will these be a straight swop or will i need to wait till i get it remapped? im hopping to get an HLM ecu but will he be able to map it for the diffrent injecters and a de-cated exhaust if i just send the ecu?
also got this today aswell its the top hose for the standard rip kit.
also i think i found out what the top radiater hose is from going by pictures i found on ebay a ford fiesta mk1 xr2. i don't know how to make a link so heres the item number 220743040793.
