I didn't think to start a project thread for my v70r and that's near completion so waste of time now, but have my new 850r that's seen better days to start one with. as it was delivered Image that black crap all over the bumper is oil form where the car was towed to me and as you can see the state of the colour coding is terrible.

Then my old v70r side repeaters went on from this Image to this Image

Post 427934 by T5frankie on 2011-11-20 11:19:28

next job was to fit some 302mm drilled and grooved brake discs i had in my shed Image

Gawd the poor thing. ...Moved to projects section...

Post 427952 by Jim S70R on 2011-11-20 11:53:13

Coming alone nicely, will look loads better when the bumpers are changed.

Wrecks to riches - Volvo style! ;)

Post 427957 by claymore on 2011-11-20 12:01:43

Waw, that's realy pink, do you need new bumpers? can't you just sand/ paint strip the paint off the gray bits?

Post 427958 by LiamT4 on 2011-11-20 12:01:59

Color coding doesn't go with every colour and certainly doesn't work on red 850s. Exhaust is different, is it complete exhaust or just the tail pipe?
Color coding doesn't go with every colour and certainly doesn't work on red 850s. Exhaust is different, is it complete exhaust or just the tail pipe?
it's just the tailpipe its noiseless and it's crap lol
Waw, that's realy pink, do you need new bumpers? can't you just sand/ paint strip the paint off the gray bits?
what would you recommend? its not as pink just overexposure in the camera

Post 427961 by claymore on 2011-11-20 12:09:09
what would you recommend? its not as pink as the photos make out
I would try masking off around the gray, and get some paint stripper on it, just try a little bit first to see if it works, looking at it I wouldnt be surprised if you got a good pressure washer at it a lot would just peel off.

Post 427965 by LiamT4 on 2011-11-20 12:12:47
it's just the tailpipe its noiseless and it's crap lol
Just a bodge job then? One of the best things i ever did to mine was to get that bloody suitcase off, guess it won't be long before you've had it removed on this 850. lol

Post 428037 by volvo on 2011-11-20 17:32:36

Hi Frankie This motor will look sweet once it done! I have the front and rear bumpers (gtey 427) if you want them and also side skirts and maybe have a longlife catback exhaust in a few weeks time. The exhaust is less than 2 years old and i have the receipt of over £300 for it, it is not loud its more of a low growl, ideal for a daily runner..... Either way, good luck with the motor and will be an intresting read....will watch the project.....if i can help, will do Cheers

I bid against you then lol, only thing that put me off was the mileage, I brought a 850r with 130k from near qady, I'll have to start a project link but busy with the house at the mo. Mines a bit of a mixed bag, very smokey from cold, but drives fine, not 100% what it is, I can see pcv is blocked, but other than that I'm thinking turbo seals or valve stems or rings. I'll comp test rings and do pcv and replace turbo, hopefully not valve stems, but I won't start until new year. Not even sure of specs, previous owner didn't know anything, I know fully adjustable konis, struct braces and boost gauge goes well off the White, so well have to see. I'll watch your build
