Post 430692 by T5frankie on 2011-11-28 21:05:16

why don't you have the meet in north essex rather than south so it's still an essex meet but more people can get to it?

Post 430709 by merc85 on 2011-11-28 21:26:59
why don't you have the meet in north essex rather than south so it's still an essex meet but more people can get to it?
May be a thought frankie, or a Convoy up to North essex to a suitable venue. Any suggestions??

Post 430725 by AndysR on 2011-11-28 21:42:35

We could always do something on the Essex/Suffolk border, but there are people who have attended the Essex meet who are from Kent and that would then mean we could forfeit their attendances by moving the meet location further north. I'm not too bothered where the meet is provided that the vast majority are happy with the location and we don't end up with a mass loss of numbers as a result of relocation..

Ironically however bar this meet most have fallen well with my South-bound travel plans so its never been that much of a diversion, door to door however its 165 miles.

Although the smoother more streamlined single number plate conversion you did recently will have helped to counteract that..slightly ;)

Perhaps in the new year we can get some Road trips to say Santapod etc lol (gives me more time aswell pmsl)

Post 431054 by LiamT4 on 2011-11-29 22:02:37

If you do ever go to a 1/4mile, i know its further, but shakespeare is usually a better place. Santapod is usually very busy and as the fire up lane is behind a stand you miss all the action while you are queing. At least if you hsve to wait a while at avon you can still watch the racing. Although i'm sure people will be going santapod as well, think they're may be one in january.

Post 431077 by t5steve on 2011-11-29 22:45:01

if anyone sets up a meet at shakespeare let me know as i run an event there every year for hot rods.......i may be able to talk jerry (owner) into allocating track time for volvo use only

Post 431124 by Wobbly Dave on 2011-11-30 10:34:13

So far the 1st Avon meet is set as 1st April RWYB. They already have a VP group - mine is VP04. Perhaps we could persuade them to have a Volvo club day?

Post 431126 by Wobbly Dave on 2011-11-30 10:37:38

As for going to Essex - I will ask. If Ellen in her current condition wants to come then I may - but given that I was at the Ace Cafe - 2 long runs in as many weeks may be difficult to justify. If anyone wanted to Car share from the Midlands this would be better for me.

That said their schedules could have changed since then and I agree it would be a good location for a meet... Not that I have an issue with the Dick Turpin.
