Hi Folks, Just a quick one to guage interest, the next track day at Marham will be 28-29 April 2012. I missed last years due to commitments in the South Atlantic. It would be fantastic to see a "good" Volvo turnout and after WD40 Im sure everyone will have the Bug!!! The track uses a combination of the airfield’s main runway and taxiways resulting in a track that is around 3 miles long consisting of wide, smooth tarmac and concrete with lots of safe run offs. There will be approx 1 mile of the main runway in use with many sweeping curves and chicanes along the taxiways. The Price is usually no more than £100 for the day and that includes as many 30 minutes sessions as can be fit in, which is obviously heavily dependant on numbers. All available details are here: http://www.marhamtrackday.co.uk/ Closer to the event registration will be available and this is essential to be allowed access to the establishment. Image Image Image

Post 434801 by The Flying Moose on 2011-12-10 18:59:11

Twelve interested... could be an excellent meet. An ideal warm-up infact prior to a VPCUK September/October Nurburgring meet???
im up for this gives me enough time to get car ready
Does a 136hp 940 need much to get it ready for such an event.. Surely with that safe power output it should be fine ;)
i think i might get up to 137 bhp after the work im doing so it might be abit scary on the straight lol
How are you achieving such an incredible power hike, have you managed to secure a deal on one of those excellent resistor chip things that fool the ECU into overfueling the engine? I've heard they're the forefront of car tuning these days... If the adverts are anything to go by that is.. lol

Emlyn - Do you know when Booking normally opens? (or when it did last year). We need to select which date we are going to be running on 28th or 29th. At the moment I'm free for either.

I suspect the 28th will be the best day but if any is probably the more expensive too.

Is this event still happening? Is it fully booked or can I book at the last minute?? :)

Post 481432 by The Flying Moose on 2012-04-04 14:18:35

Hi Yes, absolutely this event will still be going ahead... I am now helping out at the event also. Prices are: £60 for all day Saturday with one driver (aditional £10 per extra driver) £60 for all day Sunday with one driver (aditional £10 per extra driver) £110 for all Weekend (aditional £10 per extra driver) Registration is via this link: http://www.marhamtrackday.co.uk/?page_id=740 I would urge you to book as soon as you can as registration is limited and you will need security cleanrance also. We have recently booked and confirmed a rolling road for the Saturday 28th April. If it proves popular, we plan to book it for both days in September. This is a full rolling road set up, capable of handling both 2WD and 4WD cars upto approx 1,700 bhp. The costs will be £35 for a 2WD car and £45 for 4WD car, which includes a dyno run and printout of the results. The rolling road will be supplied and run by Advanced motorsport, who are based out of Silverstone. Check out their website at http://www.advancedme.co.uk/ Also we will have a bodywork specialist from http://revive-uk.com on site for the weekend, to supply quotes and answer questions about body repairs and resprays. Etyres will also be in attendance. This is a really good event and by far one of the cheapest trackdays around at little over £100 for two days racing and with safe and level run offs. All procedes go to chairty and the event is run by the Marham Ambulance Response team to provide us the neccessary funds to continue to operate, support and save lives in the East of England. Hope that helps!

Oh and by the way last year (although sadly not this year) the safety car was a Volvo 850R Saloon driven by the organiser!!! Image Image

Post 481436 by JT on 2012-04-04 14:28:41

I'll have to see how things go, but I 'might' be able to make! Lol

Post 481438 by JUDGENINJA on 2012-04-04 14:29:18

So which day is preferable? I think I'm provisionally going to Belgium that weekend again, but I hope to make it.

Post 481449 by The Flying Moose on 2012-04-04 14:43:25

I think Saturdays are always the busiest and sundays a little quieter, however preferance is down to however many can make it I guess? Ill be there Sat and Sun as ill be manning the Ambulance RRV.

Post 481458 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-04-04 14:56:53

Sunday would be better for me - as it gives me time to get there (I will need a B&B)

****************POSTPONEMENT**************** Regrettably, due to operational requirements, the track weekend scheduled for 28-29th April 2012 has been postponed until May 2012. The date will be confirmed next week but is likely to be 26-27th May. We will be refunding all payments made over the next few days and we’ll open registration for the new dates as soon as this has been completed and the new dates confirmed. We felt that this was the best option rather than cancelling all together. The price for the event in May will be discounted as a gesture of goodwill. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused any of you. If you have any problems, please get in touch with us via the details on the contacts page of the website. We thank you all for your continued loyalty, support and patience. Despite this busy period for operations at RAF Marham we’re determined to hold this event! We hope to see you all in May.
