Hi there, My wife wants a ph2 v70 7 Seater, i practically no nothing about the ph2's. Whats the most fuel efficiant model, Coupeled with Reliability? Speed is not important, got around 3k to spend must be Manual. Any surggestions. I was thinking 2.4 n/a or lpt

Lpt is good but more to go wrong. Go for post 2004 models as the electrical faults have been fixed (DIM grrr) If I hadn't got the T-5 bug, I'd have a D-5 in a heartbeat. loads of punch and 45+mpg. You don't have to buy a 7 seater, get a 5 seater and buy a 7 seat kit off flea bay for 75-100 quid. Get a manual too, one less big, expensive thing to go wrong.

I sold my seven seats and converted it back to a 5. Now the lads are getting bigger, I wish I'd have kept it!

The main thing is to avoid the auto box if you can, as even the D5 with auto isn't very economical. My manual D5 averaged 44mpg and I didn't reset it for over 6 months. However, the bulk of my drving is long motorway journeys. Reliability wise, the only thing that has gone wrong was a pipe came disconnected from the turbo due to a broken bracket, and that was a 45min fix.

What ever you do don't get an autobox.
