Well People 1st Meet of the New Year, Come on down for another Great Meet, I appreciate monies could be a little tight especially after xmas, I can relate to that having 4 Kids lol. Althoug my car is /will be in bits as from tomorrow, i'm hoping with her new 3" front pipe and rebuilt turbo she will be at this meet. Kingsford-G has bought a MINT s70r Manual in Saffron, Which has been rica'd so that will be on show also if my car is not ready i'm hoping to catch a lift somehow :) More the merrior perhaps a Good time to discuss further develops/ideas to make the essex section of vpcuk.org go forward into 2012. Lets make this another Great turn out!

It would appear for once it falls on one of my weekends off work. I will be provisionally attending. Shall I bring the Volans and 855R interior? Call it a Volvo car boot, not an unfamiliar site! Niles do you still want the load cover?

blimey this meet is going to be a full scale swap meet...............

Post 443737 by jayeastanglia on 2012-01-03 17:14:55
blimey this meet is going to be a full scale swap meet...............
yep seems like it and soon gonna have a even nicer car as well once i manage to get all the bits fitted in the week after:biggrin: already been commented on by someone the other day it looked quite smart for a older car by 1 of the chavvy drivers at work.. still think it needs lowering on the front by 20-30mm but worried it will rub even more than it does now..

Post 443791 by Kingsford G on 2012-01-03 18:09:38

Not sure now if I can make it this sunday `cos of part costs for my vw.(( have to work.

Post 444103 by AndysR on 2012-01-03 23:19:42
would have the seats for £100 have u got the door trims as well by any chance?? mines got manual winders on the rear cards like yours..
Door trims will fit the same although the R has electric rears. If the door card colour is the same as yours you could always swap the leather/alcantara insert over to your existing door trims as that is a direct fit thus keeping the manual rear winders without having to cut holes in the R door trims ;)

Post 445138 by shrekblackR on 2012-01-05 21:24:19

ill be there guys be good to see you all

Post 445172 by Niles on 2012-01-05 21:54:07

Post 445202 by bigrotch on 2012-01-05 22:43:52

The clips are a pain on the rear make sure u press the borrom part of clip in then lever up from top of clip otherwise u will snap the clip... Then lean rear seat forward about 5-10 degrees and pull hard towards u so the cylinder in the seat comes out of seated pos and lift out. Do the same for the smaller rear seat aswell.. They are pretty heavy so becarfull

Post 445207 by theflyingbrick on 2012-01-05 22:46:58

well unless my dad comes to this im pretty much stuck for transport (dont fancy bringing the missus pug :( ) still havent sorted mine yet,and to be honest im now in two minds as to what to do with it!!

Post 445209 by merc85 on 2012-01-05 22:47:13

As above, i've rebuilt the turbo, Should be along for the Meet in the Beast, although i'm back to running a bloomin cat as my 3" down pipe came with it lol Car seems to be just as brutle, just the throttle response a very tiny bit slower cus of the cat. 3rd Gear is still awesome as my vid lol. Be good to catch up. Come on Kingsford!! would you like me to pick you up? Dont want any doller for fuel mate, Call it a thankyou for the spin in your s70r!

I can get oil pumps to. Your's was a late engine with the less popular engine code, which is why they have struggled. they Obviously didnt check the engine code bud.

Post 445228 by merc85 on 2012-01-05 23:43:06
Will do mate.So the turbo is good now?
Turbo Seems very good, Slight noise at 1st until the oil got round and all seems good now. (i'm a pesimist lol) but she's all quiet now. Boosts a Proper 16 psi now, all the way round the clock which is Good, I have turned the boost down untill the Turbo is run in for a while. Horrible job tbh, wouldnt rush to do another, and i am tiring of the effort and work i've put into my car since ive had her. She is/seems quite quick now tho lol

Post 445233 by Kingsford G on 2012-01-05 23:48:58

I need to check it out mate,I`m sure she`ll easily do my s70.

Post 445259 by t5steve on 2012-01-06 00:31:18

Post 445260 by M-R-P on 2012-01-06 00:32:18

Well, its a provisional "no" from the boss but i have 2 days to work on it... ;)

Post 445262 by t5steve on 2012-01-06 00:34:53

only provisional..................theres hope yet

Post 445264 by M-R-P on 2012-01-06 00:42:02
only provisional..................theres hope yet
I'll work on her tomorrow.
bring her along and treat her to dinner afterwards.........................
bringing her means bringing the 3 year old petrolhead and there's no way she'll put up with a 3 hour drive to stand around talking cars (no sense of fun) just to have a 3hour drive home (although it would mean I can have a few beers and get her to drive home) And the boy don't travel long distances unless he's asleep lol so I'll be on my Todd.

Post 445265 by t5steve on 2012-01-06 00:49:12

either way will be good to see you........................

Good to catch up with all again, I say its too far everytime but yet I always find myself heading south to once again meet up with a bloody good bunch of guys. Thanks Jim for the trip out again, certainly an insight! Jim, Andy, what did you think of mycar given its current modifications (honest opinion) also hope I wasnt cornering too fast, the new found grip with the Koni's and 595 Federals enstills a high level of convidence! Anyhow here is the Photo abbliteration... may I point out the two suspect characters admiring a ***cough*** renault Clio powered 340! Treason! ;) A brilliant little car and well engineered project though. Image Image Image Image Image Image

driving home i got harassed by a car. Floored mine and so did the 'enemy'. Never before has my car been so left for dead. The other car pulled away quick. However, knowing what it was it didn't get away as fast as some people may guess. Quite proud of my car to be honest. sure the other cars driver was surprised I was still just a cars length or 3 behind. Bet he thought he'd totally destroy me. This is what the enemy was........ http://www.bentleymotors.com/models/new_continental_gt/performance/

Cheers Emlyn that's not a problem at all, anytime mate. Just a shame it was busy on road test ;) The suspension on yours has made a massive difference and it does transform the car, your car goes very well and the power is smooth and constant through the whole rev range with no sign of it backing off at top revs.......just wants a tad more boost ;)

Thanks to Niles for showing us the boost pipes that he sorts out, they look like a very good quality and make the car sound awesome!! I liked the way that he explained the noise it makes before he showed us lol, that did make me laugh. Will be making a purchase for one of them once my bank balance looks better!

Regarding cornering, its taken a while to build my confidence back to actually throw the car around abit since the accident this time last year... another reason I dont think ill be any good at Cadwell.
I think Emlyns R looks the Nutts, Just need's a Good Clean + Polish i'm sure it could beam. I do try to polish but I often dont have enough time to commit to a "thorough job". Believe it or not the car was gleaming before the mornings escapade, well it washed put it that way :)
