There seems to be a few more members popping up along the east? Are there any Lincs/Norfolk/Cambs area members about that would consider a meet around our neck of the woods? If there is enough interest ill cobble together a plan :)

Seriously though, i couldn't spend that amount of money to find a good one and up with a car thats slower than the one i have now, which it would be.
Really are you sure about that? I very much doubt even a standard geartronic S60R is slower than yours... on paper yours will do 0-60 in little over 7 seconds, ok mapped so probably 6.5. An S60R auto though... 5.9 seconds.

I been in 2 of them and, acceleration wise, they were dissapointing. At york last year there was only one slower car than mine and it was an s60r geartronic.

I know the geartronic was revised around 05 from the 5spd to 6spd... perhaps that made a big difference?

That combined with the 1600kg+ means a slow 0-60 time. Not seen anything of the 6spd autos, if they have removed the torque limiter then i'd expect about mid to low 6s for the 0-60time.

I'll see if Chad knows of anyone with a modified S60R geartronic..I can't think of anyone I know.

Well as per the normal its proving a little difficult to set a venue. Suggestions so far: 1 - Lincoln (ish) 2 - Norwich 3 - Cambridge 4 - Kings Lynn Any others? Perhaps I can find a venue roughly slap bang in the middle of the lot! Ill keep hunting.

just a thought here what about Peterborough, that look pretty central to all those that have replied Simon

Post 454981 by The Flying Moose on 2012-01-26 22:16:42

Peterborough seems within 50 miles or so of all the above locations so probably not a bad choice there. Ill see what I can find pub/venue wise to suit.

Image Here is the website: http://www.vintageinn.co.uk/thecuckooalwalton/ Looks to have plenty of parking and is a nice classic country pub. Address: 20 Oundle Road, Alwalton, Peterborough, PE7 3UP So shall we find a suitable date? Once we have Ill cross post over the forums :)

@mas I mean Ive spent so much cash getting the car right on a basic level that i havent had the resources to spend money on anything else at the moment To date its had a recon gearbox Full service and cambelt new coil pack x2 Tyres x 2 Oil leak from the turbo fixed Still need to find whats causing the wobble on the front end The wheels need a refurb and she could do with a little attention from the paint doctor as she has a couple of bubbles between the roof rails and the doors on one side Ive only had the thing a couple of months lol Oh well, say goodbye to a holiday this year , and probably many more to come

It should go with no problems at all given its condition with a good write up and pictures.
Of course its a bmw lol(5series), no auto s40 t4s around and didn't fancy the risk of buying a cheap s60t5 geartronic, what the issues regarding the dim, box, etc. I did have someone interested, but it looks like he's just bought another car lol. Not sure what i'm going to ask for it though, as there are'nt many s70s for sale, but after its mot i'll look round all the usual places and get an idea. Hope it won't take long to sell, its not perfect but is in good all round condition. (won't be able to drive the bmw untill sold either)
