Still having trouble uploading some of the pics i have but here are a few to show you where i am at now.
The plan is to put in the 2.3 turbo from an 850 or similar.
Ive had the car for over a year and a half, i put a 2.0 zetec engine in it and ran it like that for a bit but got bored so its rwd time :)

When directly uploading from your pc, the pictures need to be about 800x600 resolution, otherwise the uploader will refuse.
What I use to get BIG pictures is set up an account with www.photobucket.com
It only takes 2 mins. you can upload your pics to your account from your pc or phone and just copy the IMG link code into the vpc text window.
like this...
Hope this is of some use.
Liking your work although I think Pedro will agree that you need to invest in a better angle grinder lol :hilarious

Cheers, I have a photo bucket account I'm just soo lazy.
And funny you should say about the grinder.
It broke while finishing the spit, couldn't clean up the last few weld areas properly but had friends over to help lift the car so had to just crack on.
It's all down to cash so cOuld only get a cheapy.
Any suggestions on one that might last more than 2 months?

Bosch (think it's a GWS2 but don't quote me on that) they last a lifetime.

Certainly a worthy project, one ill be watching.
Have you thought about the drive train and engine positioning? Is she going to be a rear engine RWD? I can imagine for a car that small finding a suitable diff and transfer components will certainly be a noble challenge.

most people who build rwd Ka and fiesta project use RWD escort parts, plenty of suppliers of new stuff to suit all pockets available.
However, be aware modifying the floor of the shell on the Ka is going to mean the car needs IVA testing to get a new Q plate, so best get up to speed on the regs before starting as there are some funny bits in the test.

The engine will be in the front, seen in some threads here that BMW gearboxes can be mated with Volvo engines using adaptors.
My friend is breaking an e36 and said I can have some bits off it.
I will cut sleeve weld and balance all shafts. They might be hybrid shafts BMW/ford depending on what combo I choose.
Looking at kit car uprights using sierra hubs.
Already got 300 discs on the front and plan sierra standard rear discs

Thanks toaster, I will do my best to get it through an iva.
Not fussed about the q plate, some people get funny about it.
If all else fails I can just use it on track and trailer it.
I'll be making a wrc style diff cradle and fully adjustable arms

Q plate should be seen as a badge of honour these days, takes a fair bit of testing to get cars legal now, I'd rather buy a Q plate car than one that gets its reg confiscated first time it goes in for MOT. lol
According to what I read the 960 gearbox bolts straight up to the T5 engine so why use the BMW box?

Ive looked for volvo rwd gearboxes online and havent managed to find one, and as ive said ive been offered bmw box shafts and diff for nout.
The trans tunnel i put in is pretty big so doint think it matters what goes in, all comes down to the pennies and if i can get parts for free and make it work then im all for it.
Weld in roll cage is next big part of the build as that ties into the diff mounting points.
If i get time i will load up some more of the progress pics to photobucket and get them on here.
Saw in another thread about a mod to the cam cover putting in another filler, whats that about?
Do they have a built in breather? that would be the only reason i can think of for this.

The whiteblock M90 from a late Volvo 960 2.5 manual fits a T5 block perfectly. Its my box of choice for my T5 RWD conversion :)
