Hi everyone.
Came to some sort of idea how to improve (lower) intake air temp.
Having LPG fitted i think i could use its properties which is very low temp. to cool the air down.
I thought about making up some sort of radiator out of 6mm copper tube with gas (very cold liquid in it) and let the air flow through that radiator.
What do u reckon to this idea?
I reckon that could keep the air cooler especially in the summer time.

Guess it could work, its only what your vaporiser does in the engine bay, I wouldn't like to try it.
Get any leaks it would be nasty!

No worries about the leaks, i'm LPG installer and copper tube is solid.
Feed would be taken from before vaporiser which is 8mm flexi pipe, split in to 2no 6mm copper tubes, through custom radiator made out of those 2no 6mm copper tubes, back to 8mm flexi pipe and back to vaporiser.

Can't see why it shouldn't work.
What LPG systems do you use?
Post 466254 by fassi1 on 2012-02-23 21:28:46
I use Stag system and can set up many others as long as i have right interface because there is so many different systems available.
Always use wideband sensor so set up can be done precisely.
What would be the best place for that LPG air cooler.
I think before air filter.

Mine has a BRC system fitted.
It will have a wideband, for mapping the ECU.
I'd fit it after the filter, but before the MAF, then its going to suck the air through the cooler.

Yeah will have to have a look and think about it as i have standard air box.
Did u test ur LPG on the dyno? Any power loose?
Post 466287 by Volvostorm on 2012-02-23 22:07:52
No, which I was pleased about, I 245bhp on the last dyno session, thats with her smoking badly, it hit peak power before the change, and, it hit 245 on petrol before the kit was fitted.
I think its going to need some playing with now, to cope with the extra power ;)
Post 466311 by fassi1 on 2012-02-23 22:29:16
U need solid gas pressure so the biggest possible vaporiser or 2 smaller ones.
Mind that not every single vaporiser will be working with the turbo engines.
My S60 2.4LPT gained about 50bhp after HLM remap and i was very pleased with max power loss 5bhp without retuning LPG system after remap was done.
Now its all up and running sweet so interested if there is some improvement.
Post 466315 by Volvostorm on 2012-02-23 22:32:09
Yeah, I know, I'm not to worried, as long as the LPG can cope with everyday use, I'm happy :)

Doesn't make any different being a saloon, I have a tank in my spare wheel well, so not to lose space, you could ave a cylinder tank across the back seats.
There are many different types of tanks you can chose from

Are u talking about S60 2.4LPT?
Need to know what car is it exactly, what bhp and if u planning any mods for power increase and what tank do u want (cylinder or toroidal).

S70R at the mo 260bhp I am planning more mods but I think 300bhp `ll do me.Cylinder tank in the spare wheel space.Cheers.

Dont need any of those LPG spark plugs.
Standard or iridium good quality spark plugs recommended for ur engine, thats all u need.
U better need good quality kit especially injectors.

I don't carry a spare, just a can of tyre foam, saying that, if I was going abroad, I would carry it.
As said, you don't need those plugs, I just use stock Volvo plugs.

Sounds good mate. Not too far to go ether.I`ll let u know when I`ve got the money.
Post 466592 by fassi1 on 2012-02-24 20:52:03
Just to let u know guys, i don't use the cheapest stuff.
There is so many poor quality kits especially injectors.
Once car is converted u can do drag racing, track days, running full boost and do whatever u would normally do running on the petrol.
Getting back to my cooler, why do u Pault5estate think that placing it after filter will be better than just before filter? I agree that it should be before MAF.
Post 466595 by Volvostorm on 2012-02-24 20:59:31
I feel/think it would be better because your going to have vacuum from the engine, which will draw the air through the cooler.
