Collecting my C70 tomorrow, and I wondered about the possibility of a 'central' meet for C70 owners, but obviously all model owners are welcome. I'm thinking Easter time with the long weekend, ligther nights etc.
I'm in Lancashire, Wobbly Dave is in Shropshire, so the West Midlands could be good. Who else is up for it and where are you please? You must have minimum 18" rims as well- only messing cos I now have 19's!!

Barnsley, Doncaster, Great Harwood- so far Yorks and Lancs!
Post 466874 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-02-25 23:39:34
I'd be happy to come along. Never been enough of us to put on a show before now.
Post 466901 by rikcougar on 2012-02-26 08:10:03
Up for anything - Lincoln but don`t mind a few miles travelling (18" rims!)
Post 466923 by foammanmark on 2012-02-26 10:04:27
That's a few of us, but we're quite well spread out:- Great Harwood, Barnsley, Lincoln, Shropshire and Doncaster. I could travel to South Yorks, but its WobblyDave that would have a fair journey then. What do you suggest please?

I'll come if Mark swaps wheels with me LOL.

The 19's are very nice, but I the lack of steering lock concerns me a bit. I've not actually driven the car as yet, but I'll get used to them.

I'd be up for a meet in Matlock and it would be a nice drive down the A6. How's Matlock for everyone else please?
Post 467053 by shepbomb on 2012-02-26 15:49:43
hopefully everyone else will agree :-), will be nice to finally have a meet... its been nearly a year since joining here.... and they seem to be super rare
Post 467303 by foammanmark on 2012-02-26 21:33:46
Looks like most of us are going to York, but I was going in the V70 simply so I could sleep in the back, and that's June. Easter would be good, in Matlock. Thoughts please peeps?

Nevermind - I'll be happy to come along. Matlock is quite pretty?
Post 467356 by t5 pete on 2012-02-26 22:34:49
That sounds good to me
Post 467414 by rikcougar on 2012-02-27 08:24:46
Matlock at Easter sounds good, only problem is every man and his dog will have the same idea
Post 467438 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-02-27 10:47:30
Be careful with the dates. April 1st is the first drag meeting of the year.
Post 468231 by andybrown on 2012-02-29 17:29:09
Seeing as im 20 mins away from Matlock, would be rude not to pop along

As a 'local', can you recommend somewhere around or in Matlock that would be good for us to meet please?
Post 468273 by shepbomb on 2012-02-29 19:05:23
that would be good, I was going to scout it this weekend, but if there is a yocal available even better ;-)

Matlock is split into 2 sections, Matlock itself, and Matlock Bath, You drive through Matlock Bath to get to Matlock town, about a miles and half drive away.
Parking wise, as its a heavy tourist area, the only car parks at Matlock Bath are all payable ones, no free parking :(
Matlock again has mainly pay car parks, however, there is a Sainsburys next to the train station which is free.
Matlock Bath is the most scenic place, At least if we park there we can wither stay at the car park with cars, or go a walk for some chips. Sainsburys is free, but its not exactly the most of exciting places to be!!
When is the meet arranged for?
Post 468370 by foammanmark on 2012-02-29 20:55:17
I know Matlock Bath, I think! Just south of Matlock on the A6 with a river running through it. That would be good to meet there, and have some Peak District chips. I might even have a go at canoeing in the river, cos I think they do that there as well?

Good Friday 6/4/12, but we're thinking of Matlock Bath in the Peak District. Could you make that? It's about 80 mile or so each way for me. I have footy on Good Friday itself, so I can't make that day.

I'd be up for that. Something to eat and a shandy.
Post 468485 by Cubes on 2012-02-29 22:42:34
Can't really do that. It's a 250 mile round trip for me.
Though I suppose I could have a few beers and drive home. That way I'd be asleep for most of the journey anyway :o)

It's only 10 gallons of fuel mate! I'm not much behind you at 160-180 miles round trip, but it's a nice drive and good run out for the motor.
Post 468681 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-03-01 18:50:15
York is a bit too far. I only do once a year - and that is enough for me.

We're still planning on Matlock or Matlock Bath for the meet mate, but Cubes got mixed up with York.

Derbyshire is fine for me

What i might do this weekend of have a visit to see what pubs are about that seem suitable (biggish car park)
There is a place about 15 miles from Matlock called Oakerthorpe which has a pub called the Peacock, This is used by loads of people for car meets, they sell nice food and the location isnt too bad.
Depends how far folk want to stray :)

True, and I do like a good jaunt out. Matlock Bath is a lovely place too, especially if the sun is shining. I'm at work on the Sunday morning at 6 so I'd probs be pushing it for Saturday tbh. I cold look into having Sunday off but I won't know until closer to the time. I'll keep my eyes on this thread and see where it goes. :gossip:

I know we were thinking of Easter time for this meet, but because of buying Victor, and I've got the MOT on the V70 T5 next Friday, I could do with putting this meet back to end of April/early May.
How would that suit everyone that intends to come please?
Post 477586 by foammanmark on 2012-03-25 17:39:30
Just wondered if we're still up for this meet please, and if we could pencil in a date for late April/early May.
I know that T5Pete is breaking his C70 and Shepbomb had the shunt, but I hope that they can still make it?

Know where you're coming from. I have football every other Saturday and with the season ticket, I can't miss a game. The season is nearing it's end though, so it'll be easier for me soon. If we look at end of April and May, do you know now which weekends you can't make please?
