Hi, I got my C70 about 3 weeks ago, i previously owned a Renault Megane 2.0 16v but being a french car, it was showing its age, i bought her on 85k and put 20k on in a year, did me well, but i could tell there were some issues coming along, and seeing as i do a long trip to and from work, i wanted something that wouldn't fall apart quite so easily. My brother has a C70 a couple o' years back and iv liked them since,. Id have had one sooner but my insurance was far too much, but i happen to do a quote for one, and i was pleasant y surprised :) Even better was my renewal which has just come up! (cheaper than if i had kept the megane and renewed that!) I don't have a lot of money so i had to get them best with what i could afford, a couple popped up in my area, but i didn't trust them,, Especially as non had a mention of the EML dooferything being replaced. This one i bought popped up on bay and hit all the right marks, good service history, the EML and software had been sorted and a few other bits as well as a good service. Iv put a K&N Panel filter in and a new stereo (original one was shafted) On the drive back from wales when i got it, i noticed the power steering whirred when i turned, this was the little plastic piece that had come off! there was also a funny juddering between 50 - 80, changing the tyres changed this! This is when i got it: Image Image And after a good session with the clay bar, ultimate compound, ultra deep shine and dodo juice wax: Image Image And this weekends job of changing the grill, sprayed it myself in the garage: Image Jobs to do: Replace the drivers side spotlight as it has been smashed at some point (tried this weekend but its bloody hard to do without proper tools!!) finish off the grill with a new volvo emblem and original slanted "thing" from the original grill Strut brace (maybe) Sort heater blower out - i cleaned the sensor which fixes it for 2 days, then packed up again :( All in all, very happy with it,

Put your hacksaw blade away & buy the slash from an S40 & it will fit without any surgery. Groovy colour - gets my vote for sure. Strut brace is worth the 70 quid for sure. There isnt much I haven't tried on the ME7 C70 - so feel free to ask. Mine made 320bhp on the rollers this last weekend - you can also check out my YT videos on the WobblyDave72 channel. I also have a small detailing OCD habit. Looks just so wet with the dodo juice. My only complaint about that wax - is the jar - makes getting the wax out a bit of a pain.

The alloys do need a bit of tlc, once the weather is a bit nicer il get some work done on them, Got pretty good results from a smoothing over with some wet fine sand paper and a blast of lacquer. The car has has someone scrape down the side at some point in its life, as although the paint match on the door is near on perfect - it used to be gold!!! Also the arches are a little 'lighter' Still, for £800 it was a good buy i think!

Nice, ive had mine for almost 5 years now and has been the best car ive ever owned, almost traded it in for a new 6series last summer, but couldn't see the sense in paying £k's more for a newer version of what this car already does - and does without fuss and drama
:wow: Damm! Thats nice!
There are more recent shots of Betsy in my virtual garage - http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/dto_garage.php?do=viewvehicle&vehicle_id=1052 There is an intended C70 meet up (never used to be enough owners before). £800 is an absolute bargain - when you consider I paid about 6K for mine 5 years ago.

Post 470535 by Knight Rider on 2012-03-05 16:43:31

Funny i paid 5.5K with 52k on the clock 5 years ago also.

Having replaced the grill - i thought it looked too bare, so i got a cheap volvo badge off ebay and stuck it on with some glue i got from the bargain basket at halfords, the pic looks a lot worse than it does in the flesh!! Image

Post 472470 by T5frankie on 2012-03-10 10:00:33

nice motor should get a late 2003 c70 grill much nicer

Post 472704 by andybrown on 2012-03-10 20:59:09

Strut Brace fitted! Genuine volvo from the dealership (got a good price) Made a nice difference, it seems less Boat-like and actually feels like its stuck to the road now!

Looking good there! As Wobbly says in one of his threads, we are intending a meet in the Matlock area for mainly the C70, but any models are more than welcome. Where are you located? We were thinking Easter time, but due to me also buying a C70 2 weeks ago, I was hoping to put the meet back to end of April/early May so that I will be more able to afford the juice etc.

Thrilling stuff happening!! I got a new steering wheel cover - i think it looks pretty decent, plus is a rip speed one, so therefore it has +5 bhp now. Image I fitted my new front spot light after finding a suitably small bike tool which fit into the 1 x 1 inch square space - looks miles better - but there is a dodgy connection because it only works when wiggled about with some force :( I got an 'egg crate' grill coming soon as i dont really like this one. Also got my turbo gauge coming soon, i got my pod to stick it in which should fit with not much work. Also, i found some number plate surrounds, then realised after i bought them, that they also sell ones with black writing on silver (which looks loads better) Pics will follow!

Post 478384 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-03-27 22:47:09

That is not a bad colour match for the interior. 5 bhp for sure!

Post 478412 by M-R-P on 2012-03-27 23:11:42

I used the Halfrauds stitch-on leather wheel cover. It took several hours and 2 broken covers before I got it done but it's luurrvely :) Image Colour does go well with your interior tho. Get a shopping list of things you can't afford, down both front wings, just in front of the doors and you'll have the fastest car in the world (don't forget to wear an Addidas baseball cap, slightly to one side or it won't work)

LOL :hilarious I've been trying to work out what the guy in your sig pic is actually saying, I've seen it too, Merlin or robin hood or LOTR, one of them ;)

Boost gauge fitted - yes, the pod looks crap, i know, i know!!! fitted by myself and mostly my brother... Image going to have to get a new gauge, this one is rubbish - it was £7 :/ Boosts at approx 13psi, which from what i read isn't too bad.

Post 486102 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-04-13 23:21:48

I hate them. I conceded & fitted one but in the space under the single DIN stereo unit. The pods provided are always shockingly poor. I was all for sticking wtih the android TORQUE app - but the lag is too much & I am still not 100% convinced by the numbers.

Post 486107 by andybrown on 2012-04-13 23:38:58

Its a shame there is no iPhone app, though i want to give the Renault Sport app a whirl sometime

there is one calls REVS I believe - in App Store - but I have never tried it.
.....there is one calls REVS I believe - in App Store - but I have never tried it.
It's called Rev, but try Rev Lite first (Free) to check compatibility, you will need to purchase an OBD-II connector to use all features, more info found here : http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/

Not much to report on, Still love the car, gave it a clean at thw weekend, painted the calipers & drums gold a couple of weeks ago, i think they look really nice myself. Also got some touch up paint from volvo to get rid of some little chips here and there. There is still a long scratch between the fuel cap and drivers door though i cant get rid of myself :( Image Image Image Image Image Not a bad attempt, and yes, the wheels need attention!

Post 496010 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-05-08 18:02:47

Looking good. I can certainly help out with the wheels. as for the scratch depends how far you are away from me and how deep it is.

Post 497847 by andybrown on 2012-05-12 23:13:13

had a go on the engine bay today, the fuel rail guard, rocker cover and anything aluminium is coated in some wired stuff which was peeling away and looked terrible, so i decided to get it off! probably shouldn't have removed it - but still!! All black plastics & pipes finished off with snot coloured Auto Glym bumper & Trim stuff Image

Post 497867 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-05-13 00:37:05

The weird stuff is old lacquer looks a bit orangey and flaky? Looks good now
