Over the last two days there have been some Jet fighter planes flying over the Dudley area, heard them yesterday at work, and just now I've heard them at home. Whats going on?

Yup. Though its a bit weird, why on earth would they need to "familiarise with the air space"? And why over Dudley? Something doesn't add up.

Ahh that is what the noise was. Perhaps they are finally going to give Dudley the regeneration it is crying out for ;)

They were over Middlesbrough last night, a pair of them in formation. Loud mothers aren't they. I actually ducked like a complete d!ck. Hope nobody was watching. They're back again now!

they allowed one to go supersonic over land a few weeks ago.... apparently EVERYONE pooh'd their pants. I imagine that was quite a loud bang.

Seen one fly just above the clifftop in poole for the bournemouth airshow. The pilot pulled the nose up and it pretty much stood on it's tail for a second, pointing up, then he hit the afterburners and went straight up and kept going. We could still hear it after about 5 minutes! Got a vid somewhere.

Nice. Love the noise off them, been to many airshows and the way they make your whole body shake is awesome.

Not quite a Vulcan with the afterburners running but stunning anyway :)

We have had a C17 Skymaster flying in to Bristol doing touch and go. Very odd for a military aircraft to be flying in and out of a civil airport, loads of times. We often get fighters flying low level down the Bristol Channel. As far as the sound barrier, we used to hear Concorde come through it every evening at 6:10 pm, and we still miss the bang even now. I've got a photo of her last flight going over Weston Image

I was at our warehouse in Cradley on the foam splitter, and we all heard the noise and thought the machine was knackering up. Great when we sussed out it was the jets!

Think we declared war on Wolverhampton and forgot they had access to Cosford

I was in the garage earlier when I heard the loud noise. I went to turn the radio down but the noise disappeared at the same time, so I turned it back up again. Freakily, the noise came back as well. Turned out, it was The Jets. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nm_QilrHkh8&feature=related"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nm_QilrHkh8&feature=related[/ame]

im surrunded by RAF bases here in east anglia here the jets out alot and the helicoptors. spent many a day looking over the planes at cosford (was born there, dad stationed there for 20 years), best thing is a hercules landing rear ramp down , jeep out the back whilst its still moving, ramp up and away it goes. they use lots of civvy air fields to practise on, often not told what the site is but just given co ordiantes of it, helps them practise and be able to adpapt

Used to walk to work with tornados roaring on full Afterburner overhead at RAF marham - you could smell the jet fuel. Now I live in Glasgow I wish they'd come back and drop a Jdam on me.

Sorry, couldnt resist, was too easy
