Some plonker decided to not look what he was doing and run up the back of me. Stood at traffic lights, they went green and just about to set off and bang.
Luckily no damage to bumper apart from it coming away from the chassis by about an inch and a now squeaky rear end and a stiff back! Got to chase his insurance company as only 3PFAT. Company car with Asda.
Not much to see but it needs fixing

Not to put a downer on your day, but I see a crease in the metal work(or paint).
remove the bumper and I wonder if you'll find all the metal work bent out of shape??

That might be the light reflection, it was raining a bit. But no, no downer if it isnt.

When you say stiff back do you mean your own or the car? If yours be sure to go see the doctor if its not part of a pre-existing condition. (Incase it becomes debilitating).
Sorry to hear of your accident, there are some plonkers out there.

Sorry to hear about the accident and that's the second shunt this week with members on here. Glad you're OK but whiplash can be a delayed thing. Hope the car is easily/cheaply fixed as well.

Ha ha yes my back, yeh I had a back op about 16 years ago. Its just a bit stiff, had heated seats on it on the way back home. Will see how it goes.
And yes there are some right plonkers out there, strangely enough a lass in a fiesta tried cutting me up on dual carriage way bit in Leeds and I thought to myself then how lucky I was I managed to brake in time. Women drivers *whistles ahem*

You'd better get your whiplash claim in quickly, cos insurance rules maybe changing to put the burden of proof on to you.
Pre-existing condition may negate the liability. Although in law you have to take the victim as found.

That looks a grand to fix and five grand whiplash. :)
Be prepared for the "have you been involved in an accident that was not your fault" phone calls ;)

sorry to hear that mate, im going through it all myself at the minute, and have discovered I can claim back for medication etc.... unfortunately looks like they want to right my car off and the damage was even less visible than yours.. only time will tell

What's going on at the moment?! The roads seem full of lunatics:(
At least you're ok. Have you had a look at the floorpan in the boot? they often take the brunt of a collision and the bumper goes back to shape. Go see if you can get the spar wheel out...
Post 474758 by LiamT4 on 2012-03-17 13:19:34
Unlucky mate. Check all in the boot, under the carpet, just to make sure though.

Glad your ok apart from being a bit stuff. Hope the rear panel is not too badly damaged behind the bumper.

No ripples - that's good news mate. Insurance will probably just wanna stick a new bumper on it :)

Sorry to hear of this mate, hopefully you'll get a sound resolution and it will be sorted quickly for you.
Post 475740 by Haizum74 on 2012-03-19 21:23:05
So, it got to near 3:00 this afternoon and not heard from the guy who ran into the back of me so I called the companies head office who tried putting me through to him. Left a message on answering machine and half an hour later I get a text message from the guy. A sodding text message. It told me the name of the company who deal with Asdas claims etc. So I call them and give my details and they now have to wait for a report to come in. Bearing in mind my car is going in for the turbo next Tuesday and other bits and pieces, so when thats done and it then goes to get the back end sorted and they turn round and say its not worth repairing then am wasting money needlessly. Arrgh

Can you stop all the work until they've sorted it out mate?
It sucks but saves you wasting any money in the meantime.
Post 475762 by stribo on 2012-03-19 21:39:39
Nightmare mate, hope you get it sorted quickly.

Just got a call from insurance company, they sending someone out to assess the damage and send report off. Had to cancel getting the turbo done which is a right royal pain in the §§§§. Getting a courtesy car though. probably some crappy KA or something of that ilk.
Post 476642 by Haizum74 on 2012-03-22 14:48:58
Just had mechanic out for a mobile valuation and he said it needs a new cross member and new bumper. Mentioned that suspension squeaking since it happened and he took a look and said it was looking rusty so he didnt think the insurance company would pay for that as it could have gone any time. §§§§. So waiting for the ok from the insurance company now.
Post 476655 by M-R-P on 2012-03-22 16:16:19
Tell your turbo has gone funny since the prang too - ya never know lol :)

i had abit of a bump last month when my car was parked outside and a girl thought she would slip off the clutch when behind me and rammed it. as it wasnt my fault i went through a company called QDOS and they delt with everying and my insurance company dont know about it. even better they sent me a car and picked mine up. they say that they will give you a similar car and not a §§§§ty corsa and so a brand new audi a5 2.7tdi turned up. now as i have a c70t5 thats what they thought was similar. really helpfull and my car is all fixed and i got to look like a flash §§§§ for 2 weeks.
