I heard on the news that the gov is talking about turning some roads to private companies to maintain and that they might be allowed to charge for their use. The gov spokesman explained that it was a good right thing to do as the car tax isnt enough to pay for road maintenance. So what is fuel tax used for then? Why are we also expected to pay to maintain the roads that move goods around the country that the gov then tax on sale. Worse roads mean less goods moving and less tax. I long for the fuel protest days to return, but this time to remain until the gov does something

Oh yeah, its all to do with the high cost of oil...... Nothing to do with the huge amount of fuel tax, or the 20% vat we now pay on it as well.
