Didn't Madonna write 'Popadom Don't Preach' about Mumbai?
Mark what you on you nutter, I want some :-)
It should have read "Popadom Preach" so clearly whatever I was on I took too much of it!
Don't worry guys I won't call you at dinner and try and sell you something. Im going to Mumbai chad
Well if you've never been its defo gonna open your eye's :) Bombay is a mad mad city.
Nope I've never been, I've been to a couple mad places but I doubt they will be anything like India
Hope you have a great trip. Whose looking after your motors whilst you're away?
i go india alot, and depending on where you go in Mumbai. its very very different to anywhere on the planet!
Dont drink the tap water; bottled water only. Even when brushing your teeth, use bottled water to rinse. Take a good supply of Imodium just in case! Eating from street vendors can be great fun but again, beware.....the hygiene there is not quite up to our usual standards! If you drink from a can, use straw and ot direct lip/can contact! Other than that, just be careful and enjoy the amazing culture differences!
Keep a few packs of baby wiped in the fridge at all times ;)
Enjoy it, I hope it goes well!

If the food doesn't get to you, the germs carried by used notes will. Each time you handle the local currency, make sure you sanitise your hands.
Nice another bit of great info
okay folks i got in at midnight last night the time difference is a bit weird here its 10:41 uk time but here it is 15:11 i thought time zones worked in hour differences lol obviously not.
So first impressions is, the place is mental, it was midnight when i got in and there was more traffic and people than princes street in Edinburgh on a Saturday afternoon!!! there is no lanes for cars they are literately mm away from hitting each other, i think whos got the loudest horn wins.
I pulled up to the hotel and there was guards that checked under the bonnet and under the car. then i had to go through a airport security setup just to get into the hotel. I thought Mumbai was supposed to be safe!!!
heres a picture of the hotel lobby
I thought casino royal when i walked in.
My room is spot on, theres a 42" sony LCD, mini bar, shower and separate bath oh and a king size bed so im happy.
I went down for breakfast this morning, I have never seen so much food at this time of day, there was lots i had never tried before but i didnt want to risk it yet.
i had a look out my bedroom window and not to be offensive to any Indians on here but my view is pretty much onto slums. I have asked the guy im working with if he will go for a wonder with me I dont fancy venturing far myself, so I hope to get more pictures.
what do you do for work Volvokid...(when you have your tools that is).?? & whats the hotel like.....??
I GOT MY TOOLS WOOP WOOP!!!!! they came today. errr mainly electrical stuff for the oil and gas, currently I'm working on electrical connectors and hydraulic lines in India The first hotel was very impressive, it was very grand and the food was some of the fanciest looking stuff I have eaten, the new one is more modern but the food is less than half the price and it shows im just eating soup now my stomach cant handle anything else at nights here

i recently got back from the Dominican Republic - all inc, we stayed in the Grand Iberostar in ''punta-cana''... 5 star, own butler to each room, hot tub on the balcony of EVERY room.
the food was fantastic... but my body needed a few days on the porcelain god to acclimatize to the difference...
i bet its hot where you are....lol, its §§§§ here hence the fact im on the forum in the middle of the day.

Im in no postion to say no I have my wedding to save for. How the hell can they say this country is safe when all of what i have just told you plus every where you go you need to go through a metal detector, mc donnads, kfc, shops. its crazy we went into a grocery store yesterday and I had a bag with me, they took my bag off me and put it in another bag, they tie wrapped that bag shut and gave me that bag back, it was to stop shop lifting, oh plus you needed to sighn in and out of the shop haha. Dont get me wrong im getting paid extra for this but not what i should get, half the time when I go offshore I do next to no work but yet out here its the hardest job I have worked on and get this. I had no idea at the time what i was coming here to do (either did my company), it was just supposed to be support.

Edit I do have beside my work place I feel so sorry for the poor over here, I get quite sad when I see some of them, the kids especially
If a MOD wants to move this onto my india thread I think it would be better please.

jesus, think id rather stab myself in the eyes with a blunt knife than live like that.. know what you mean about the kids, just couldnt imagine bringing my kids up in a dirty §§§§hole like that certainly opens the eyes when someone in the thick of it posting pics like them....
Heres a good one
Rite now this is a long video but please watch it if you have the time it can get borring but this shows you there conditions, there are a couple hang onto your seat over takes. I havnt managed to get a picture of 4 people on a motor bike yet, but i've seen it a few times now.

The smells also are horrible, that first bunch of pictures are the one and only time I have walked around, I was gagging and I mean gagging I had to start breathing through my mouth.
unbelievable people still live like this....

my god..... it is shocking, watching that vid its like that in the Dominican, some of the best hotels on earth surrounded by the worst poverty.. such corruption, mismanagement of funds.. me & my brother rented a couple of quads from the complex we were on & headed out... we ended up on the world famous ''Macao Beach'', where we were swamped by kids desperate for anything... they were just sleeping with their families on the beach under leaves ffs, i gave them everything i had... whats money, i can come back here & earn more, i even gave a young boy my sunglasses... that yard looks bleek.... id have to design some form of shade, that would be my first task. your a pioneer mate..... Louis Theroux aint got sh*t on you.
Wish i was there then we could have a party somewhere.
Tell me about it they are about 200 years behind
Just think about how many millionaires and billionaires there are there, makes it even more tragic. and to think we talk about "class divide" here, nowhere near as bad as india.
I know how you feel mate been to India 5 times and spent over a year in the country, you just need to get out of the city lol its a great country when you do, if you can get a few days off jump on a plane to Goa for the weekend only an hour flight and chill on a beach for a bit :)
