Today is a day that i fulfilled a dream and bought a T5!
i was sceptical about the car to start with, i didnt like the way it was advertised and at first wasnt to keen on the eastern guy that was selling it.
The first thing i noticed about it was the paint work on the rear quarters was terrible! he said "it will mop out" i said "you recon" i later found what i think it the suspect in the boot (a piece of 1200g W&D) but he said the car was like that when he got it.... i dont think so, this get me abit angry as he didnt say much of it on the phone.
when i met the guy he was actually quite sound, he then started her up from cold, ive never heard something so sweet!
he then said let if warm up for abit and we will take it for a run, cant thrash it cold (this earned big brownie points with me) and to be fair his M5 the older v8 he had swapped to from the volvo was a real stunner.
I took the car round the block a few times and gave it a boot full on a small stretch i found, was all good and it does seem mechanically mint, no smoke no rattle or knocks etc etc i gave him just over 700 quid for it and left, been driving it all night hasn't missed a beat.
i want more power already, i know its quick, but i want it proper quick,
i need to sort out a few niggles first, get them out of the way
radio sc900 cd doesn't work error 2
needs a new inner drivers door handle and window switches (in cream)
new top mount
seats don't fold forward
change the wood inside for something else or will wrap or paint them
and was thinking about a cheap diy black spray job
try and find a recirc blank plate (maybe make one?)
i will get some pics up tomorrow... the start of the next project

The one we have for sale is the uprated volvo one, Will take pics and add to our thread later
Post 498974 by Wobbly Dave on 2012-05-16 01:57:38
Mines done perfectly well with the uprated volvo one.
The cruciform rubber does not wear out as it is always under compression.

Post 499233 by t5 pete on 2012-05-16 17:39:48
That's a complete replacement for the round one.
Ah as in the whole later ME7 unit with the square bigger bush?
if so is this a better upgrade than using the older style mount with a round powerflex bush?
yes pete i was thinking of the purple one, like i used on my tdi and yourself.
Post 499501 by bubba_1986 on 2012-05-17 00:11:39

I can do yes, the pipe is straight through catback and sounds awsome!
He said it was all powerflow, but when i got it on the ramp about 2ft of it at the end was.... the rest of it is just mild steel, and does not look great but works fine. i can sort a video out i think (will have to use a long poking device or something)

I was looking into a short throw shift kit... couldn't find one on eBay, but did else where.
I found a kit being sold for $60 looking closer at the picture of the kit i thought... im not paying $60 for that, Im going down my workshop to make one :)
after 45 mins this is what i came up with:
Works real well, just a little stiff on the change now for my liking, but i shall try it for a bit maybe give a bit more throw back.
I moved the position of the gear knob moving it further back in the car... cuz of my long legs the shifter was a real stretch away.
However it only cost me 45 mins :D

Ive been having a few troubles... It has what maybe a missfire or a hesitation, there is a sort of pattern in when i get the studder.
warm at idle quite rare but about 10 times now, lasts around a second or two, seems like its running on 4,
and re-engaging the throttle at lower revs.
I think the pcv system is shot, im sure its leaking town the back of the block as the turbo return seems fine, also it does smoke a bit with the dipstick out.
Earlier today i left it idaling on a forward slope... once i started reving it to move it, i got some blue smoke front the back... this is the first time this has happened.
could i rework the pcv system with the tubing i have? budget is low at the moment so looking for a DIY fix
Depends how you are going to graduate the NOS injection.
Its going to be a standard sort of setup, single NX shark fogger with 50hp jets to start.
Then i will probably have to be thinking of rods for anymore, WON say even with a 50hp setup with a standard IC the volvo's gain more like 60-65hp, obviously i need to step carefully with this mod... so nothing explodes lol.
However they also say that as the nos has such a chilling effect its a lot safer than people think.

Glad you got it sorted after the accident, it's looking really good mate. The boost guage loks like the same as mine, but I mounted mine in a different place:

Once my GTX garrett is tuned up - I plan to fit NOS, maybe at the end of the season?
Post 570278 by Brett855tdi on 2013-02-06 16:03:53
Cheers guys... She's a bit of a 2ft car really lots of tiny tatty bits to keep me busy, but for a 640 quid motor its all good.....
It's now done 170k this week....
I put the gauge in the middle with adding a nitrous and afr gauge there too.... They are on my eBay wish list lol

But hey just fitting and a refill left to do now

Ive got the coilovers on last week, its set as low is it will go and im happy with the hight lol, its not dropped it as much as i thought.... i set the up for what i thought was going to be a 60mm drop and put the car down and it must have been the same on the front and +30mm on the back. So the next day i dropped the front to lowest setting and took the adjusters out of the back and fitted the springs in the same was as the factory like lowering spring, this gave me a much better drop.
i didnt like the way the adjusters fitted in the rear spring cups, i dont know whether this was because of them being for an 850 but the way they were formed to take the locating pin for the locating bush stopped them sitting properly, so i was happy taking them out.
the car was first at around -60 once i set it at lowest but i think its settled to around -70.... i can still get everywhere over bumps and car parks etc.... i think a front splitter will be pushing it a bit but i still think it needs one lol.
Now the ride, from a performance view its really good for a cheap kit, ive lost so much role its unreal, especially on the back gaining much more grip too. the one thing is its a very firm ride not too bad on the back but the front can get a bounce on in the back lanes. the ride on the front really puts your gut to the test and i feel the need for buckets and harnesses just to keep me in the car lol
Post 579614 by stribo on 2013-03-02 19:09:10
Loving the stance, which coilovers did you use?
Post 579772 by Wobbly Dave on 2013-03-02 21:59:34
Never been a fan of coilovers, as you well know. Still she looks well
Post 579777 by Brett855tdi on 2013-03-02 22:01:06
I used the cheapo Pro sport kit listed as the cheapest for the 850 on ebay... but got them through a company called zensport a little cheaper at £219 delivered
I should say the cars settled a bit since the picture and is probably 10mm on the front and 25 on the back lower now

Oh Dear I've spent some money on ebay tonight...
Updates coming soon.
Does anyone know if the HLM304 removes the second lambda sensor? can an AFR sensor go in its place?
Post 596721 by Wobbly Dave on 2013-04-15 12:02:03
I'm, just guessing but you didn't buy the map from Hamish? Am I right?
Post 660434 by Brett855tdi on 2013-11-13 20:58:59
Thought I should drag this up with some updates (like ive said i would a few times)
Ive got the Nitrous all sorted setup with a 50hp shot, theres a few more things i want to sort out before i go further... but quite happy with it, although in the process of having a better fuel line made up for more flow, if i ever need it 8)
Just finished a full 3" exhaust which was a surprisingly easy task to perform, i had ordered myself 5m of 3" inner dia pipe and set about it.... took about 8 hours over 2 days. the 200 cell cat i had gave up so its just pipe and a back box for now.... my neighbors dont like me lol
I will invest in a longer rear muffler soon
Recovered the dash in black alcantara
Switched the center and right hand air vents for carbon fiber gauge holders, holding AFR boost and dual boost controller in the center and nitrous and flamer controls on the right
I had an update and my turbo cores been milled and now being balanced...
I'm building up a few toys ready for the turbo swap (about half of this is still shopping lists)
Inlet wanted for the rest of the bits i have for a custom plenum
A mate of mine is going to sort a full welded alloy RIP and intake pipes
TB and maf
Exhaust manifold wanted for porting... i think that will do for the 19T im going to use
intercooler
pcv upgrade
Been having some funny idle problems lately that are just getting annoying along side the key resister pick up....
Its been holding revs making it irritating to drive but lately doing the opposite for a nice change
Scanned it with torque many times and gave idle control vale fault only once a few weeks ago
and now getting low AFRs at idle at times:
I will take some picture tomorrow maybe a video or two if i can find a jimmy

I do want to put crystals on when I find a set whilst having the right money in my pocket....
Also some 19''s to finish it off, maybe black.... maybe chrome
Will sort a fresh sig out soon too
