My faithful T-5R has this last week just clocked up a quarter of a million ( relatively trouble free touch wood ) miles. I got her at 196,000 and other than service parts, two troublesome wires on the main relay, rear exhaust system, collapsed cat and a crunch with a plant trailer in a narrow Shropshire lane, its been excellent ( Just drinks petrol and eats tyres, but that could be my heavy right foot...lol ). Time for a small celebration and Roll on the Half Million.:beer:

Congrats, you can get badges from the voc for that lol.
My 850 hit just short of 210k before the box went - otherwise I'd have caught you up in a few years :)

Just thought 250,000 miles at say an average 25mpg would equate to roughly £62,000 of fuel (at todays prices) :eek:

What's annoys me is wandering around on google streeview and seeing the petrol prices at a garage. Not looking forward to traveling up to western Scotland in July :( (and back!) Might have to get a small mortgage or shares in Shell lol

Lol....your right there in less than a year I put in more £'s in petrol than the whole car cost me....and could have had it gas converted and recouped the cost and still saved money....how does that work, oh well too late now.....lol
but it is such fun, you have to give it a bootfull every so often..:B_steerin

I'd seen that they do high mileage badges and I think the T-5R has earn't one so I'll be in touch with them shortly, but as for catching up, she's a daily driver so there's no rest for the wicked....lol

I'm looking forward to the gold badge, and can't help thinking ill still be on the original exhaust system. My highest mileage car to date was an E30 323 at 380k, I can't remember how many exhaust systems, disks, clutches, water pumps, engines, gearboxes, drive shafts and seat covers I got through but it was plenty more than the one (generally) that the factory put in my 850

My 850 is stuck on 190k.... 2 engines, 3turbos, 2 gearboxes... I'm not sure about Volvos indestructible heritage...
Although it has only done 3miles in the last 6years

I have to admit to 2 gearboxes as well, one because it was very noisy and the last one because the replacement was accident damaged with a cracked casing, oil starvation destoyed it in the end.

the standard exhaust went into what can only be described as 'silencer self-destruction meltdown' were it just got so hot it wrecked itself and despite trying open silencer repair surgery with the welder a few times it just killed itself, so was replaced with a Jetex/Bsr replacement.

Have to admit to 1 engine and turbo change due to second owner trying to drive fast round a bend and straight into a flood, killing everything and costing about £6000 to put right. all volvo parts and bill is in service history

Oviously these cars were designed to just go on and on and on. Mine had just passed 225,000 on a Y plate, so another 2 years to go at average miles before I hit the 1/4 million mile mark. :-)

Executive car average mileage is i believe 20000 miles a year and then after 3 or 4 years their sold on and take up a more gentle life with us lot......!!! until the weekend when its off to the strip for the poor old thing to prove it's metal...lol :eye-poppi
