Found this while trawling the net. Always like imagining the size of the Universe. This puts it into some perspective but its still bloody huge. Image

What amazes me is that the most distant object is 12,882,600,000 light years away yet one light year is equal to is 6,000,000,000,000 miles. Thats an unimaginably long way away.

Another thing to remember is that if you were to travel at the speed of light (around 670million mph) it would take you around 100 000 years to cross our galaxy. Yet our galaxy is pretty small compared to the universe.

“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
