i'm afraid the jury is still out on the new forum style, but an issue i am having with the new layout is when using my netbook the screen won't skrink small enough so end up having to slide across to get the rest of the screen

Can you let us know what browser you are using please?

This is the only layout issue I've seen so far (home page)
The new button positions may cause some unrest but in all, the new structure definately has potential :)
EDIT - I too am quite fond of the thanks button...
EDIT AGAIN...
The "who's online" tab is a very nice touch too but the user icons are missing :D

OMG, woke up, logged in, thought I was on VT :shhh:
Will just take getting used too, as already said, need a thanks button plz.
Post 523846 by stephenevans99 on 2012-07-14 08:52:34
This will take a day or so to get used to but it does look good. I've already altered my siggy for the new look site !!
At last we have a little ickle Favicon....THANKS.
My only concern is the actual size of the photos posted in threads using Photobucket etc, they used to be slightly smaller with the option 'click to enlarge'. On a thread which is full of photos, those in the deprived areas (mainly Welsh Valleys & Darkest Corner of Dorset with Dial Up ;) ) may struggle with the page, also perhaps issues with those viewing on a mobile device. Does that make sense or is it just tosh ??

There's a mobile mode you can switch to, I'm gonna try it in a bit...

New style is only a temporary feature to help with the migration to VB4 from VB3. What screen resolution are you chaps running in?

Makes sense. There was a resizer previously but this didn't actually work. (At least not that well). We will look into some sort of replacement.
Those on mobile devices should be able to enjoy the new mobile interface :-)
Again many thanks guys and keep it coming :-)

Using IE9 x64 on the pc, and firefox beta on my android tablet - same problem on both.
Default mobile style won't activate on my android, goes back to movara fluid (guessing that's temporary.
Still no thanks button ;)

On the tablet are you using the normal android browser or the firefox beta when having the issue with the mobile browser?
We will look into IE9? (Though maybe try CTRL+F5 first to refresh?)
I thanked you and everything though lol. (Anyone else not seeing thanks button?)
EDIT - I'm really not awake, you have found the thanks button lol

Only using firefox beta on the tab mate (the standard browser is poo)
Refresh doesn't fix it, aldhough it does look like it hasn't finished loading the page.

Needs a logo.. Could be an idea for a forum competition?
have to say so far I've no problems on my iPhone (running Atomic Web browser as safari is rubbish - no tabs). I view it in full format as well - not keen on mobile versions of website as they usually lack features though not tried this one.
Will certainly report any bugs I find though.

It's not a major issue TBH. this is just the old PC I use at work - it's fine on the phone and will be ok at home.
Mobile version seems to work ok on the phone when selected (HTC Desire).

The lack of logo is temporary and is mainly to support the transition of the upgrade. (So is the current theme to be honest).

Same as the desktop one TBH. First (non alpha) option is to chat with your friends. (Instant Messaging). The Alpha one is to chat in the room. (Like ye old Flash chat......but with more AJAX and without so much flash)

I really like the new layout, feels good to look at and use - may be easier for me though being new as I hadn't used the previos layout long.
Hats off can imagine a lot of work and time has gone into this.
How do you do an advanced search ?
Yes, that does seem to be one of the things that changed with the upgrade.
Anyway, in the meantime, if you click 'Search Thread' in this page just above the top post, a little dropdown box will appear and in the bottom left corner there is an option for the Advanced Search
Or use this link http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/search.php?
Hope this helps for now, will look into a more permanent option :)

At the top of the firefox window, click "Tools"
then click "Options" ... a small window will appear.
Click the picture of a cog with "Advanced" written under it,
there will be 4 tabs under where you just clicked, "general" "Network" "Update" & "Encription" ... click "Network"
There will be a button with "Clear" on it... click it and wait a few seconds (if you're cache is really full, it can take a while)
Done.
Hope this helps mate ;)

Yes, you used to be able to see post you thanked, posts of yours that had been thanked, was also easier to see your daily posts, just gotta get used to the new style.

weird. What type of device/os/browser were you using Mo?
Post 526159 by S70T5Chris on 2012-07-21 10:16:46
Well since day one I haven't had any issues at all, either on the PC (running google chrome), or on the Iphone (in either mode).
The new layout (mainly the colour scheme) seemed a bit odd at first, but used to it now.
The best new feature I think is the "scroll to top" button!

How come when I go to Volvo vids section there are only 5 (maybe 6 now I've added 1) , and the only way I can find previous vids I've posted is by using the search function?
Edit. Sorted for some reason my default setting was to just look for vids in the last week.

OK so this is really minor but I often use the "Quick reply" box for posts and the new forum has changed it's functionality.
Is there an option to turn the TAB function on to progress from the reply box to the active control boxes?
My example is that on the old edition I would write a message (just like I'm doing now) and when ready I press my TAB button to cycle to "Post Quick reply". I then press either space or return and the system would post. This saves seconds of my life and as I age these may prove to be valuable!!!! :ices_rofl
Currently I have to use the mouse to select the button to post ... but as I said this is a minor issue
Post 546964 by T5RPete on 2012-11-11 16:16:06
Once you've written your reply, just press ALT + S
:)
Post 546977 by Dangerous Dave on 2012-11-11 16:52:30
The tab button still works, it just goes to the next item on the page which is the 'show you signature' check box, so you have to tab twice

Doesn't work in Firefox, you have to use Shift+Alt+S (Shift+Alt+ for webpage shortcuts)
Alt+ in Firefox is menu shortcuts
It can be changed via the about:config screen

Each time I get the New Private Message 'Pop Up' my browser totally freezes up, the only thing I can do is close the browser and then reopen it & then return to the forum. The PMs can be read through the Notifications with no issues.
I'm using Firefox 17.0.1 Not sure if anyone else has this issue or just me???lol
