As the title says, after 5 years of ownership, I'm thinking of selling the Cougar for something with more power. (It seems so slow after driving the R, even though it's been the quickest Cougar at Ford Fair for the past 3 years.) I've seen a C70 I really like, 2.3 T5 GT and was wondering what problems/ faults I should look for if I go to see it. Thanks in advance for any advice.
If it's manual mate, there won't be much wrong with it... Look for the usual knocks and rattles, is the pcv blocked, if it's auto look for evidence of it being serviced etc. What year is it?

Sometimes there's only a small part of the pcv which gets blocked (it was on mine) which can save you some time. It's not difficult but time consuming. If left ignored, it can bust the crank seal which is a gearbox - off job (you should watch for that on your R too.
The steering rack brackets break on these iirc. Just have a peek underneath to have a look.
One thing I have noticed, at meets etc, is you don't often see rust on Volvo's, is it because members cars are better looked after, or are they well rust proofed?

The paint on volvos is like armor plating lol. Bloody thick stuff.
Is it straight forward turning the service light out, as it needs doing.
Code reader or possible a combination of button presses will turn the service light off on these afaik.

providing it's the "change my oil time" light then its easy. if theres a problem and its actually a warning then it could be maf, lambda etc. youre welcome to borrow my bluetooth reader if you want (wont work with i-phone) just get yourself a copy of torque and scan the car when you view it.

Is it an me7? They tend to have a few more issues than the earlier motronic engines. Me7 have an etm instead of a proper throttle cable.
