The A/C in both the Volvos works great, unfortunately I'm still driving the Cougar with non operating A/C. I wish I'd changed the evaporator when I had the chance. :wallbash::wallbash:

I have no a/c in my old school bus, but it cools really quickly once a couple of windows are opened, something that never worked well in the 850 for some reason :S
Why can't you edit the title? i missed out the "you" lol
Sorted for you bud ;)

Having a full black leather interior means that if i didn't have good a/c then i probably cook to death. lol

No A/C in either of my cars, but thankfully I walk to work, and have no need to drive anywhere untill next week. By which time, it'll be winter again; cold and rainy. No problems here :)

I miss my air con out of the Volvo, why did I buy an old Golf? :sorry:

Post 527791 by Sharkey R on 2012-07-28 18:23:15

Just had the lorry regassed as the aircon couldn't cope the other week in Italy where it was 38 degrees and this week in Marseille it was perfect. Kept the truck lovely and cool. As for the 'R', 30 mins on blue an I get the start of icicles forming on my air vents. Those that suffer headaches from air con, blow the air onto the windscreen then it won't have the same effect but it'll keep the car cool and shouldn't cause headaches

Post 527797 by Harvey on 2012-07-28 18:47:06

Getting my air con regassed next week as guy I see at the workshops will do it as its not been looked at that I know ,still working spot on but he says most aircon systems will approx 10% per year would be rude to say no ,as the car is 6 years old.

Post 527808 by stephenevans99 on 2012-07-28 20:16:00

A quick tip for everyone who is having their aircon regassed........the refrigerant recovery units that most air con places use will vacuum the system for a pre-set time, lets say 20 minutes. During this 20 minutes the machine will create a nice strong vacuum which can help determine whether there is a leak, just as important though - it boils off any moisture that's in the system. My advise is to request that this 20 minute vacuum is increased to 35-40 minutes. The shorter the vacuum period, the greater chance that moisture will remain in the system, when moisture is mixed with refrigerant it becomes acidic and will eat away at the ac components. Most ac guys will do a pre-check to see if the air con is working, if it's working but not as efficient as it should be, they know that there is still a certain amount of refrigerant and the system is leak free. Some will then do the shortest vacuum time they can get away with - 10 minutes or so, this allows sufficient vacuum to be created in order to 'suck' in the refrigerant BUT NOT enough time to eliminate any moisture. Always ask how long they will vacuum the system for.....the longer the better.
