Looking good there bud. Makes we wanna do something to my old bus. As for the turbo, depends on what you want to use it for LOL.
very true lol just boost mate lots of it
Boost is great, but its no good if it comes in too late ;)
The turbo is designed to come in early at 3k on full boost like the t38 did
Sweeeeet!!!!
Nom Nom :D
Lol nice
you rebuildin this again
i never used the forged engine last year or the modded head and cam ether.also built the cossie manifold and bigger t38 hybrid with t4 compressor housing too mate.
more pics of what we have done today .got the block back today after it was stripped and rechecked with me there no probs at all ,so fitted it back in with group 4 solid engine mounts

Thanks mate
Looking good there, glad to see your still going at it.. Wish I could say the same for mine..
Thanks mate but it's ashame the car will not be ready for trax because I have loads of work to do on the car yet.this time I want to do everything properly so I can enjoy the car.so I will be taking the s40 round trax lol.do you think the turbo is big enough lol.
Where did you get the Nuke cam pully from?

i'm thinking also to take my time since i have to start again, rods i reckon
The amount of bloody time its taking you :)
lol What car does he have again?? Its been so long, i'v forgot!!
Its coming along nicely smithy, good to see it all getting pieced together. I wonder how long that engine bay will stay clean???
fitted the wheels today but car needs a good wash and new bumpers etc fitted a painted but it gives peeps an idea what they are like on the car enjoy.the car is abit high at mo due to only just being dropped on the floor and the car has to settle .
Looking the business smithy, ill look forward to seeing it soon hopefully and hopefully getting 5 mins with the keys ;)
Yes mate I will let you have the keys for 11.8 sec mate lol
Yes mate I will let you have the keys for 11.8 sec mate lol
Ill do an 11.7 Second! :)
Yes mate I will let you have the keys for 11.8 sec mate lol
looks very nice mate but wots this 11.8 sec all about?
looks very nice mate but wots this 11.8 sec all about?
how long it takes to get to 60mph ;-)
how long it takes to get to 60mph ;-)
I would love to know that... Great Project, following with alot of interest Smithy! Good Luck Will,
Good shine on the car there. Look better with colour coded handles. Any rubbing issues on the front with the 18's?
How wide are the wheels Smithy? I can't help thinking you'll need a lot of rubber to put all that power down.
How wide are the wheels Smithy? I can't help thinking you'll need a lot of rubber to put all that power down.
What power? Its only got 140bhp, it just sounds fast ;-)
What power? Its only got 140bhp, it just sounds fast ;-)
Yes mate it will sound even faster soon with that manifold and large tb.
Good shine on the car there. Look better with colour coded handles. Any rubbing issues on the front with the 18's?
The car is minging on the outside it's just being in the garage makes it look shinny lol.no probs with the front arches at all mate .and I've got all the s90 handles and bumpers and side skirts so should look tasty when she is finished with the 140 bhp she has.
How wide are the wheels Smithy? I can't help thinking you'll need a lot of rubber to put all that power down.
They are 7.5in wide with 225/40/18s Avon zv5s brand new all round .
They are 7.5in wide with 225/40/18s Avon zv5s brand new all round .
I know very well that they are very good tyres but that 139 bhp has to go somewhere and I think it may be lost a bit through those rear wheels - 445s may be more suitable ;) Especially since I heard them scream with pain from the 1st stage of boost - with the OLD setup :yikes: You're gonna need sponsorship from Avon to go to the shop and back lol
Very true but I've got some other tyres for drag racing and going to get a set of 17s with track tyres on .I also drive like miss daisy on the road too so my tyres should last lol.
Very true but I've got some other tyres for drag racing and going to get a set of 17s with track tyres on .
Hell yeah! I want one :D
Hell yeah! I want one :D
I still promised you a drive in it ,when she is fully tuned up I will come to one of the meets and then I will show you what 140bhp is like on the road lol
I still promised you a drive in it ,when she is fully tuned up I will come to one of the meets and then I will show you what 140bhp is like on the road lol
Loads of noise and a big cloud of smoke I imagine lol! Really tho, I know you have a goal and I recon you are gonna reach it mate. I just hope you have enough rubber to cope with it. ;)
looking great there Carl, looking forward to saturday week when you can tell us your latest news, over a few tinnies :funkybana
looks very nice mate but wots this 11.8 sec all about?
Think thats the time he is aiming for at the strip. It will be tough without some proper drag slicks. My car has less than 140hp and is very traction limited with Yoko A048's at 1 bar boost.
Think thats the time he is aiming for at the strip. It will be tough without some proper drag slicks. Funny as though - Big WOOOSH, scream of tyres and 13 seconds later, when the smoke clears, Smithy's still sat at the start line after digging himself - in, up to the axles when the tyres burnt off pmsl :D

hi carl, the rear discs you want are the 850 5 stud. outer dia 295mm , handbrake drum diameter 177mm ish. 940 original disc: 280mm outer dia , handbrake drum 160mm dia. thickness of disc 9.67 mm same as 850 disc. s60 rear disc: unsuitable because of large inner flange on drum that sticks out like i thought , and outer dia only 290mm. regards, jamie
If you've got 18's on you can go 336mm discs with V70r calipers or even 345mm discs with Brembos off an Evo 8.
If you've got 18's on you can go 336mm discs with V70r calipers or even 345mm discs with Brembos off an Evo 8.
The porche setup is 320 front and 298 rear so the 850 rear and s60 front will do nicely .
no problem. i presume these calipers were from a solid not vented rear disc originally?
320 mm discs - are available and now under pfv907782 £266.53 inc + £9.18
Ok, after playing "pass the parcel" with some photos last night, Here's some pics of A rather large dump valve and fuel pressure regulator...
More Bling bling looks very nice
More Bling bling looks very nice
The stuff above is to make the engine bay look nice it does Nothing else mate .
FPR's any good? saw a second hard SARD unit on the bay but still havent understood the getting fuel to the injectors bit yet
What is a sard unit mate
porsche catalogue
I think SARD is just a brank the same as 'nuke' 'bosche' etc, apparantely the jdm toyota boys love SARD gear
I think SARD is just a brank the same as 'nuke' 'bosche' etc, apparantely the jdm toyota boys love SARD gear
I have a aftermarket fuel management unit that I can map the fuel system already .it goes between the injectors plugins
i have a loud pedal, whats the progress with yours these days? I'm hoping to have mine running by next month, just stupid things left to do. going to nab the back axle off the daily 940 as it's a locker and the turbo is just a straight open diff
i have a loud pedal, whats the progress with yours these days? will the 960 diff fit a solid 940 axle? 3'' tb on a standard manifold, I take it you're going for outright fuel economy then
will the 960 diff fit a solid 940 axle ? 3'' tb on a standard manifold, I take it you're going for outright fuel economy then
no mate you got me wrong it's a solid 960 axle and rare too .72mm internal bore tb mate on a cossie /Volvo custom manifold and custom tb too
Took a sneaky pic of Smithys car today whilst he was looking the other way...
Thanks mate it will look really good when its back on the road .im going to take it out of the garage and give it a good wash too.
So what discs and pads are you using?
So what discs and pads are you using?
New ones lol
New ones lol
Never heard of that make,is it good?lol
New ones lol
Porsche pads and volvo discs
Looks lovley bud I cannot wait to see the car I was hoping to use the s60r brakes behind the polaris but unless I make huge spacers its a no go so going to stick with the Volvo 4 pots
Thanks mate
Porsche pads and volvo discs
never seen those volvo discs before?
never seen those volvo discs before?
Black diamond mate I'm going to see if they are any good .they are 320 mm and look nice with the wheels.now got to sort the rear out and I need 300mm vented but so I can use the handbrake. The will be more pics very soon when the car is clean and all together again .
Porsche pads and volvo discs
Brembo and Pagid then lol
Porsche oem pads mate
Black diamond mate I'm going to see if they are any good .they are 320 mm and look nice with the wheels.now got to sort the rear out and I need 300mm vented but so I can use the handbrake.
My discs are 324mm front, 300mm rear, both vented. Not because its fast, but because its a fat b*st**d.
My problem will be the back because I can only find single discs with internal handbrake .but I will sort it with my new axle I have .but that is a job for the future I will get the car on the road first
these are black diamond combination discs - drilled and grooved. yummy!
A few pics of shiny stuff sent to me today :) I think they may have gotten a bit squished in transit (the pics, not the shiny stuff lol) but you get the idea.
Thanks for posting the pics mate ,now time to put it on the car and get the thing going lol
Looking the dogs mate. Just hurry up ffs.
Nice, very nice and shiny. What's the idea - better airflow?
Nice, very nice and shiny. What's the idea - better airflow?
Yes mate bigger tb and matched ports and alot more air too for the big turbo .standard tb is 55 mm internal bore this one is a custom 70mm bore onto a Swedish plenham running cossie inlets and volvo inlet plate
The will be some more pics of the engine bay with a few more things fitted
My problem will be the back because I can only find single discs with internal handbrake .but I will sort it with my new axle I have .but that is a job for the future I will get the car on the road first
How about a hydraulic handbrake, then you won't be as limited on what rear disc's you can use as you wouldn't then need the internal handbrake
How about a hydraulic handbrake, then you won't be as limited on what rear disc's you can use as you wouldn't then need the internal handbrake
None mot pass able mate already though of that one
Nice pics mate lol
looking good but that cam belt looks like a rubber band
1d photographs lol
None mot pass able mate already though of that one
they will pass on mot, but you have to keep the orginal cables attached at some point to the caliper, thats what the road rally boys do to be able to get mot pass, cable must move but won,t have to actually operate anything as the hydraulic system will take care of that
they will pass on mot, but you have to keep the orginal cables attached at some point to the caliper, thats what the road rally boys do to be able to get mot pass, cable must move but won,t have to actually operate anything as the hydraulic system will take care of that
Yes that's true but you need the the discs to still hold the handbrake if I use the front s60 discs they don't have that built in mate.already looked into it .
Can't remember what calipers we used to use when we where converting to rear discs, it was something that had a hanbrake mech buily into the caliper.. Looking good Smithy...
Can't remember what calipers we used to use when we where converting to rear discs, it was something that had a hanbrake mech buily into the caliper.. looks like it will need a parachute to stop not a handbrake :flying:
looks like it will need a parachute to stop not a handbrake :flying:
Very true that's why it is having porche brakes front and rear .the fronts are done
Looking better and better every pic mate. Bet this part of the project is the most fun because its all coming together!
Looking better and better every pic mate. Bet this part of the project is the most fun because its all coming together!
Yes mate things are coming together now
Yes mate things are coming together now
usually its you coming way before lol
usually its you coming way before lol
Never mate make them do all the work lol
Looking smart, can't wait to see this up and running again :)
I've seen more parts first hand - it will be a beast and then some.
